Granted, nobody wants to look dumb and just say "ummmm" and "uhhhh" to the camera (especially if you're one of those Wayne's World types)... but OTOH maybe then the ghostwriters who "stuff" OLDS with fake profiles wouldn't be able to do their thing so easily, and we could see just how bad their shortage of women is? Heck, I'm all for the idea of someone opening an OLDS which requires a vid clip of you if you want to join them... then I could join it and you could see what a riot I REALLY am!

I imagine it would entail bandwidth issues, so the startup would require deeper pockets. Videos can be old and deceptive just like pictures. There is also a prospective moderation problem if mods would have to watch a whole video to make sure someone wasn't sacrificing a goat in a Black Mass at the end of one. Much easier to vet still pictures. Another issue would be that video would further exacerbate the "menu" tendency that OLD encourages in women where 2% of men get 90% of dates and replies. Women wouldn't use the feature, why should they go to the trouble? If they have a single attractive picture they will get plenty of attention without needing a video clip.

That may be true, but IME it's a lot easier for a guy to just steal photos of women and use them to "stuff" a site. But some OLD is bound to experiment with video uploads for the sheer novelty value of it, because they'll think they're doing something very original.
