Do you tell your best guy friend about your boy issues?

Hi, I’m new here! My first post. lol.

I’m a girl with a best guy friend. I don’t know where things are between us at the moment… Sometimes it seems like we are best friends, sometimes it feels like more than friends… I’m confused as to what’s going on. While we sort things out, what should I talk about with my best friend since I am at the “unsure” stage with him now?

My question is, when I have boy issues (for instance, a guy from school is interested in me but I’m not into him and thus, I don’t know what to do), do I still share it with my best guy friend or just leave him out on this? I feel like telling him everything because he still is, in a way, my best friend but I know when things are at the “transition” stage, things get complicated? I know I can turn to my girl friends for boy gossip but it’s different…

Dear rednette,

Why would things change because you are in transition?

I'd say be natural with him like you've always been.

If something is going to happen it is not because you acted in this way or the other. Let things happen naturally without making it weird.

Good luck with the friend.

Talk openly to your friends, always. If he does like you, and it is something more, that can be his cue to start dropping you hints, lol. I've been "the guy friend", and it can be frustrating to be interested in a girl who only talks about other guys, but you've gotta take the opportunity and find out what the deal is. And if you decide you are interested in him, it sounds like you guys have a strong relationship already, and you appreciate his input on the matter. I think a significant other is a best friend first, and a sexual/romantic partner second. While both are important, when it really boils down to it, you've gotta like the one you're with for who they are!
