SJC2008 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Online dating profile that is. I list myself as "a few extra pounds" and I think it scares women off. I know there have been millions of old posts and that the conclusion is that it's geared toward women and they try to date up (not that men don't try to date up). I am 5'10.5" and weigh 190 even and I know I am being honest with AFEP, bUT the majority of women who are, let's say obviously overweight list themselves as curvy. Curvy is Beyonce, meaning a little thick but CLEARLY having a figure. So at 190lbs at 5'10.5" can I get away with about average? Or should I be one of the few honest ones?

My rule is to always be honest, go for CURVY! hehe Seriously though, things are only a problem if you want it to be. Sure some women may not be into you for your weight, others might not even care. If you are uncomfortable with it, it'll make others uncomfortable as well. Maybe say in your profile "yeah I'm 190lbs, cake is my weakness" or something a bit amusing to show you are comfortable with whom you are. And if you aren't comfortable then you can always work on it. Just becomes an issue if you let it become one.
cerridwen Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I don't believe in over-promising/under-delivering. So I'd list myself as "a few extra pounds" were I 5'10, 190. BUT! Those aren't bad stats. Only if I was looking for a slim/gangly man, would I be put off. 190 pounds on a bigger framed guy could look quite nice.
ditzchic Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Just make sure you post a full body pic up there. Then let everyone make their own decision.

Put yourself down as average! Most women will reject you out of hand thinking your 5,000 pounds. You have to consider them functionally retarded, because they must sort through thousands of potential guys every month so they rely heavily on weeding tactics. Honestly, you want to put just enough info to make them want to find out more. Don't be afraid to stretch the truth a bit too. The same tactics people use on resumes should be applied to dating profiles. Your goal is to get in front of the girl... complete lies work against you... painting yourself in the most positive light works for you.
