Lonely Ronin Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Up until a year ago, I couldn't even tell you what my sign was. Since then I have been reading a lot about astrology, and I'm shocked how well some people match their sign. For example I'm a Scorpio, and the more I read about what it means to be a Scorpio, the more I became aware of the positive and negative traits of my personality. If nothing else, I have become more aware of my personality, and that has actually helped me a lot when it comes to relationships. So, how well do you fit your sign?
cerridwen Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 I don't put much stock in astrology but like you, have noted that my personality fits my sun sign description to a T.
nothappyjan Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Yep agree, mine matches me 100% I am a bit wary of dating certain signs now, I seem to have athing for gemini men, which always ends in disaster
EasyHeart Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Aries men are supposedly arrogant @ssholes, and that pretty much sums me up exactly. Geminis are my kryptonite.
oaks Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 What does this have to do with dating? The traits for each sign are so broad that, surprise surprise, they fit most people. Horoscopes are hokum, and even if there was a scientific basis to them the stars have 'drifted' (Precession of the Equinoxes, for further reading) so horoscopes shouldn't work anymore... yet so many people swear by them... so they can't be real. They can be amusing for 3 minutes on a long train journey when you get to the back of a newspaper (having read all the important stuff), but don't base any life decisions on them. For extra fun, cover up the names of the signs and read all 12 and see how many of them do or could fit your situation.
MontanaGirl Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Couldn't have said it better, oaks. Horoscopes have the same validity as fortune cookies--good for a laugh or to pass the time--since they are both written to be generic enough to fit everyone. But, if nonsense can help you discover new things and help you improve yourself, then by all means indulge yourself (whether it's horoscopes, numerology, tea leaves, palm reading, or deciphering spaghetti stains left on your napkin). You may lose out on some great opportunities by limiting yourself to "compatible" signs (and lose money if you're paying to have this done), but probably won't do too much harm to anyone else. I've never seen a newspaper horoscope recommend you do anything illegal or immoral, after all. But if a guy told me he couldn't date me because our signs weren't compatible, well, I'd be perfectly happy agreeing with him that we were fundamentally incompatible, albeit for a very different reason!

I don't believe in fortune cookies either, but I still open them and read them (and eat them. Yum!). Next time you're in a Chinese restaurant and everyone is reading their fortunes to the whole table, make them all say "... in bed" to the end of whatever their cookie says. It's funnier that way, and about half of them will make sense. But if a guy told me he couldn't date me because our signs weren't compatible, well, I'd be perfectly happy agreeing with him that we were fundamentally incompatible, albeit for a very different reason! Agreed. Anyone who thinks that astrological compatibility is important is almost certainly incompatible with me!
