Alright so last one for the day: women aged 26-33. This time 100 profiles.

On average, interested in men 7.94 years older and 2.2 years younger. So again +8, minus 2; skewing older.

Nearly one fifth (19%) were only interested in men who were at least their own age, while an additional 5% were only interested in older men. Meanwhile 54% were open to dating a man 8 years older and 91% were ok with dating a man 5 years older than themselves. Every single one was ok with dating an older man.

Let me be clear with what I'm saying. For men, it does not behoove you to shoot for women your own age or older if you are under 40. You have a much better chance of success by shooting for women slightly younger than you (~5 years). At least, according to my numbers.

I guess I'm not that surprised at those numbers. Women that age are usually looking to start a family.

Also confirms why online dating (at least within a 25 mile radius of Washington DC) is not for me.

I'm not interested in dating older men. I put down +/- 5. But that +5 is generous. He has to pretty much be ideal in every other way before I'd consider him. If he has more than -10 years and doesn't at least have +2 or +3 on the older side, he's out.

Still... nice study. The only thing missing from your study is standard deviation. 'averages' don't always tell the whole story.

Hmm that's interesting because few of the younger ones I meet seem to have much baggage at all or be on SSRIs or antianxiety meds, etc. They seem much happier generally than older women.

give it a few years... you'll see...

Few younger people of either gender are (on meds). Their life story is unwritten. Still, my observation is that people (of either gender) who make a habit of dating way outside their own age range have some kind of issues relating to the opposite sex.

I'd be just as concerned about younger men having 'mommy issues' if he preferred much older women... which is why I won't date them either. Just because society accepts it, doesn't mean it is healthy.
