the matrix was much more philosophical and fantasy oriented than scientific.

star wars was for 12-16 year old boys. just because those boys grew up by the time they made the prequels doesn't change that.

star trek i would argue did well because it was character driven, the back story didn't matter as much. it could have just as well been set on a 17th century war ship as a 24th century star ship.

Just because there's aliens in it doesn't mean the scifi elements will predominate. Magic and withcraft has been done, vampires and werewolves been done, what does that leave? Aliens. It's just a plot device that allows all kinds of BS. It's going to rip off scifi, not actually be scifi, just as you yourself said twilight rips off dracula but most certainly isn't dracula.

I want to give young men a cool robotic alien who bestows super powers, as they ascend from being completely average to galactic badass superheroes, and to give young women a hot, well endowed alien who will end up fawning on her and competing with other aliens for her as she ascends from being completely average to the galactic throne. Think Starship Troopers as opposede to 2001.

I admit I do like Twilight. Why? Coz Edward is actually romantic unlike most guys. The tension is caused by they actually wait to have sex. Women like Romance, that's why romance books sell so well.

Maybe guys could learn something from that.

Where do vampires hang out so I can get bitten by one to become one?

Yes you gain eternal life, but you go poof in the slightest light and you spend most of your night seeking blood.

These days I will sparkly in the light.

OR you could just join the military. That's always a guaranteed way of getting chicks. Or course going to your local military surplus & investing in a uniform would be so much easier. ;)

Maybe I can become a vampire then joint the military. That way if I go to war I can't be killed.

Another disadvantage to beeing a Vampire is.....cold cock.... A girl may not like a cold Vampire cock.

Also if they don't produce any blood themselves how do they get an erection?

:lmao: cold vampire penis would be a major issue.

Well, depends on the mythology of that particular fantasy world.

For example, in Joss Whedon's world, vampires are squishy and have somewhat similar biological functions to humans (so, can have sex and ejaculate) because they TAKE the blood to replenish their own supply.

Meyer's world, though, the biology is a good deal more bizarre. There's a lot of holes in it that don't make sense... for example, she says explicitly that male vampires can have sperm, but female vampires can't have eggs/babies. The sparklevires are also described as having (literally) rock hard bodies... like marble, and be unable to blush. So... by that logic, wouldn't male vampires have an erection like all the time? And if they DID somehow magically ejaculate, since they're so incredibly strong, wouldn't it be a... uh... Superman and Lois Lane situation? (Avoid reading if easily squicked out: his sperm would essentially tear her apart when he finishes?)

Long story short... don't think about it. It's illogical and silly and hurts the brain.

The only vampire movie I ever really liked was Dracula Dead and Loving it. For an old man, Leslie Nielsen was quite a stud, scratch that, he was stud in general .

I would like to take a weed-whacker to Pattinson's hair!

The person who wrote the Twilight books has nothing to offer the world, but is a brilliant business woman. What better way to make lots of money than to write a book specifically aimed at a really stupid demographic? (tween and teen girls).

What's sad however is when you see the line for twilight at the movie theater and half the people there are childless women in their 20's and 30's :lmao:

It's not just young or childless people like Twilight, there are also groups of "Twilight Moms" too.

OMG never!!!! That's what makes him so desirable. That mane of his:love:

Tolkien needed an editor - in several places the books aren't really a great read. The story is fantastic, and I enjoy reading it (repeatedly), but it drags in places. Sometimes I wonder if they should bring out a book-of-the-film. :)

Well when were they written? A long ass time ago. I'm sure they do drag. That's part of the reason I don't want to read them. I find old books dry and boring. Reading the classics in school was always a challenge. I enjoy contemporary literature. Although right now I'm reading Gone With the Wind for the second time. That was written the the 30's. Great book and well written. No slow spots.

I realize this is incredibly superficial and I feel bad saying it since he seems like a nice guy but does anyone else think Robert Pattinson's facial features look vaguely Down Syndromey? I find it so distracting!

Girl, that has got to be the all time worst pic of him. He is gorgeous. Yes he looks like a down syndromey redneck in that pic with that horrendous mullet and those busted teeth. Hopefully he's gotten veeners since then.

This is the Robert I love::love:

Twilight is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I'm a guy! I've read all the books, and seen all the movies (barring the new one.)

I definitely think the books are better than the movies, but the movies are also really good, too.

No offense a Hard Days Night, but you strike me as a man-gina. Your signature is offensively mushy and Twilight is for 12 year old girls. It's the equivalent of a 26 year old woman who plays with GI Joe's.

Still having trouble attracting women, huh?

I was banned for almost a month because of something I said. Won't repeat it.

It expired this morning, though, so I'm back. :)
