I've been in NC with my ex for almost 3 months. He asked me not contact him anymore and though I had trouble the first couple of weeks, I've since been able to not contact him for 3 almost three months.

However, I broke NC today. I heard his grandfather died and I was devastated. I had grown quite found of his grandfather and he and my ex were very close. Anyway, I texted him saying "all my condolences for the loss of your grandfather"...is that okay? I didn't contact him because I wanted to talk to him or because I had a weak moment. I just genuinly wanted to express my sadness for his loss. I had a friend told me that it could bother him because i didn't respect his wishes of NC and he has a new gf...is it really bad to break NC to give someone our condolences?

In this case, no i don't think anyone can blame you, if it was me i would have broke nc.

Just be very careful if he replies, it may not be good, it may set you back.

I agree, if you cared for his grandfather then what's going on between you two should be irrelevant or near irrelevant.

Does this mean you agree that it was ok to contact him or do you agree that it might bother him? lol im sorry just a little confused here.

He didn't reply and I didn't expect him too (though a thank you would have been nice :p) but i do feel sorry.

I would have done the same. His lack of response.... I believe horrible way to act.
