I have been in a fwb relationship for almost one year now. He has always been very gentle and caring towards me. We see each other between 1 to 3 times a week. Sometimes we will just meet up in our lunch breaks for a quickie, but quite often we meet up in the evenings and go to the cinema, or for a walk along the seafront. For the past 4 months or so we have been meeting up on Saturday mornings and spending the entire day together, parting anywhere between 22.00 and 04.00.

We have recently been seeing each other in Sundays as well, basically spending most of our weekends together. I have become quite close to his family (parents) and have also spent a few days on a short break with him.

I am now pregnant. I was debating whether or not to tell him, but decided that he has the right to know. It would be cruel of me to keep this from him. The situation is not a good one (fwb) as there are no expectations here, and the timing is awkward too. I am due to start a new job in a week's time and I have to move almost 250 miles away.

When I told him, at first he was shocked, but put his arm around me as he could see I was upset/scared. He came back to me a few days later to say that, although he felt he is not ready to have a child, he would be happy to support me and help me to bring it up, if I would be willing to move near to where he lives. He has confirmed that he does not love me, and that this is just a friendship, and that it will never be anything else as I am not "the one" and he is still hoping one day to meet "Miss Right".

I have no idea what to do and was wondering if anyone else had ever found themselves in a similar situation?

Thank you

I'm sorry you're in this situation.

It's not his role to "help and support you to bring up a child". It's his role to bring up the child that he brought in to the world with you. I think you need to make it clear to him that he has to face his part of the responsibility for his child.
