Hi,

My girlfriend and I have been living together for over a year. She typically wants to go to bed earlier than me because she needs to leave for work earlier in the morning than me. Recently, we've been fighting about this a lot because she wants me to go to bed the same time as she does so I can "hold" her. She says that couples should go the bed at the same time. She doesn't want to be "one of those women who sleeps without their man" or alone. Even though, I'm just in the other room while she sleeps and eventually do join her in bed and "hold" her.

I'm a night person and I usually don't get home till 7:30 - 8 pm. After goofing off, relaxing, and watching TV for a couple of hours I finally get around to doing actual work (usually errands or spending time on the computer, checking e-mail, etc.). So by the time she's ready to go to bed, I'm usually not.

My girlfriend wants me to make a concerted effort to go to bed with her at least four nights a week - which I think is highly unreasonable and unnecessary. If that doesn't happen, we fight and it's breaking our relationship apart.

If any one has any words of advice on this it would be greatly appreciated.
