I keep having all these flashbacks of my relationship and break up as if it has all happened again very recently and the memories are so vivid in my mind. It torments me so much. And lately I've been sobbing my heart out because of it. Feeling so uneasy at the thought of my ex with someone new and better than me and feeling worthless remembering how I'm not good enough for him and that he doesn't want me anymore.

 

So I just wondered if anyone else here has had flashbacks or very vivid memories of their break up/ relationship that haunt them? And if so how they cope with them?

I do but it only happened 2 weeks ago but I think you have to stop thinking in the way that he left you so there is something wrong with YOU... I dont know you, I dont know him but I think the majority of people on LS are here because of G.I.G.S. or because of some emotional issue that our ex's have that caused them to go off the deep end. Reason being is that most of us were caught so totally off guard by the breakup that it was extra traumatic for us and we need a good community like LS to help us cope.

 

So there is nothing wrong with YOU... It's HIM... he has G.I.G.S. or emotional issues or commitment issues... People that are in REALLY disfunctional relationships know that it is ending and can prepare themselves for it so that when it happens they are like "oh well it was bound to end anyway". We are the good people that just wanted a nice happy chance at a nice happy life with kids/house and whatever... We just had the bad chance to meet someone, who at this point in their lives at least, are incapable of just being happy with what they had.

 

My woman left me for a hippie... he actually broke his arm falling out of a tree he was protesting in... he grows his own food cause he doesn't trust the government not to poison it... He doesn't like namebrands so he affixed a picture of a penis to all his namebrand shirts... I cope with what you are struggling with by focusing on those things... I'm way better than some dirty hippy (sorry to the good hippies on here but then again hippies dont use computers haha).
