Her status says single, but I have never asked outright. Supposed to meet up in a month for an event. Question 1: What is a good way to ask if she is single and still keep it casual? Question 2: Is it appropriate to exchange digits with a girl via Facebook without creeping her out. How should I go about doing this in a fun way without adding pressure, or is that a given? Make the move asap & save face to face for communication. Especially if you initiate with them. Nothing wrong at all with making your intention's known right from the start. They either want to give up the digits or you move on. If she's chatting with you on FB then she's probably also chatting with 5 other guys.

Thanks, Chips you may be just into her, but whatever you do, please be careful of how many friend requests at one time you sent to these women on facebook because even if you know them facebook could ban you for a certain period of time because it happened to me about 3 times... just some friendly advice since facebook is big on security but sometimes they really overdo it.
