Sure, start flirting with her. Talk with her more, spend more time with her, text her, call her, that sort of thing.

Up to about 24-25, after that most women understand that friends are not always right and that time is slipping away. If after 25 or so she still listens heavily to her BFF, don't even bother. Because you will have a relationship with her, but only if the BFF agrees on your terms ... it's like dating in victorian england. o.0 ^^ This. I would take it one step further. Many young women pick a man as their "boyfriend" based on what other people think of him. I'm talking BFF, other friends, people on the street. etc. Young women always go with the most socially advantageous and acceptable option. (They might still screw you, but you won't be their main man.)

It's just that the female of the Human species is instinctively sensitive to social status issues. A male who's clout, cache, popularity, and skills can provide her with security and resources is a turn on to women. The problem is that the younger women don't know how to judge what kind of social status is truly meaningful and useful. i.e. Stereotypically a big atheletic male has high status, for millions of years even before we were true mammals that was the case. Now being the guy who invents the ipad is where it's at.
