Well over the last month my friendship with a female counterpart has completely gone downhill. I am very interested in her and I allowed that to ruin the relationship. It all started when one of our mutual friends told her that I was interested and she said no. Since then I have not taken things well. I read alot of articles about being a nice guy and how I should lose that label which led me to say some things that I regret but she forgave me. Since then I have turned into a cocky ******** who always talks about himself in order to gain her approval. This weekend was bad. I sent her a creepy text like "I am sorry for being pushy lately. I promise that I will stop actinng a fool in order to impress you. I value our friendship and I dont want to lose it. I understand that you dont like me like I like you and thats something that I have to get over. I am immature. please forgive me."

Any advice to kill the awkwardness

LOL...

The best advice is to just cut ties if possible. If she's in your social circle, limit contact as best you can.

Don't contact her. Your emotional feelings right now are inflating both her worth as a romantic prospect and as a person (friend). If your friendship is anywhere close to being worth maintaining, SHE will contact YOU later on. I guarantee it.

Having you around is not going to prevent her from dating, kissing, and screwing other guys. Sometimes in front of you. You think you know pain and heartbreak now? :p I have been there and if I could go back, I'd slap myself in the face. And you should do that to yourself now. Well, hopefully you're 20 and not 33.

Stop talking to her completely. All you're doing is embarrassing yourself with each interaction, as well as, further diminishing your chances.
