I can't believe that I am asking this like a high school girl but a friend's behavior confuses me and I need some opinions on this. So just to give a quick background description: we are in the same program in college and we work on some projects together (not alone though).

So due to school work I guess I should be categorized as "undatable" as Its very hard for me to have time to party

it's almost library 24h on 24h. I almost gave up and just tried to convince myself to not date anyone until getting my diploma when I met this guy.:D

It was not love at first sight but we have a good time together and I find him physically attractive. I am rly out going with everyone and smiled a lot, since I am also an open book, I guess he just realized that I like him at some point. it was great, jokes, eye contacts, normal interactions between good friends (even if we rly dont know each other that well, never hangout outside college etc) and for some reason, he is being very different today. he holds my look longer than usual with a huge smile. much more physical, like putting his hands on my shoulder, not his arm around my shoulder, but rather one hand on each shoulder as he was standing behind me, which is extremly confusing, why would guys ever do that? don't we do that to kids?

He is the very sociable and nice type and I have a hard time knowing if he is interested or just being nice. I am not obsessed with the idea of dating him but it would be easier to just know whats going on because we still have to work on a lot of projects together and despite all i said , i.e. i am not that into him etc, i have to admit that it was really difficult for me to focus in class today because of the way how he was acting with me

thanks for any constructive opinions in advance and btw hes not shy at all, he talks to girls easily in a very friendly way

It is not rocket science. He has noted you like him and now he likes you too. He may be friendly, but too shy to make a move on you.

If you like the guy you need to help him out a bit by incrementing your flirting behavior.
