Dating Separated man for 3 months - NOW he says his marriage ended tonight...

What would you think if you were dating a separated man for 3 months, and a few days ago he finds out his wife started drinking again, after completing a stint in rehab 6 months ago. He called me crying after he discovered the empty wine bottles and he said, "My marriage ended tonight." He asked for sympathy but I felt empty. We had been dating seriously for 3 months and he just NOW says his marriage ended because he discovered his wife started drinking again. What does that say to you? How would you feel if you were dating him?

One of two things and neither is good for you.

 

He either lied completely about being separated or he wasn't emotionally detached and didn't consider his marriage over yet.

 

It's high risk dating someone so freshly separated. Divorced for a year at least is a much better bet.

 

I'd advise protecting yourself and leave him alone, tell him to call you when he is divorced and out of the drama.
