Hey. Maybe this questions is misplaced but I really want to know the opinions of people who are actively dating/looking.

I have decided to take a break from dating for a while but I have met people who I feel I would go out with in the future.

How can I keep these people interested without leading them on but at the same time not pushing them away?

I turned down a date because I was busy and I said "dont worry i'll be here until the end of june" (which is true). But I still see the person and make eye contact and smile and small talk.

I'm sorry maybe this is a stupid question I just don't want to give out the honest answer anymore because apparently telling people "i just got out of a bad relationship situation and I am burned as hell" translates into "i am vulnerable yes please try to hit me up for sex" which is NOT what I want!

You can't expect people to wait around and be available for you when you decide you are ready to date.

Just be completely honest with them about feeling like you are not ready to date yet, and then keep the lines of communication open on a more friend-social basis.

Let go of any "maybe I'll date you in the future" ideas. When you get ready to date again, just start fresh and meet some new people.
