thatone Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 i met one of the most interesting people this week, i figured it was worth perspective that the people on this forum who are frustrated with of all things, their dating life, could get something from. this guy was a helicopter pilot in vietnam. he flew the scout helicopter (the little black one in apocalypse now). it was basically his job to fly around tree lines and try to get shot at on purpose, so that the cobra could swoop in after they shot at him to kill the enemy anti air locations on the ground. he said his personal worst was losing three helicopters in one day. one shot up, one the engine died in as he was flying, and the third was lost in a prank of sorts (he was hovering over the mess hall of another company to pick on them, and one of their guys in a huey came by and bumped his tail to knock him into the building). when he got home, he never really got rich or famous, he worked on maintenance at a sawmill for 20-30 years and fixed up old cars in his spare time for extra money, which he never had much of until he was past 55. he walks with a bit of a limp due to taking some rounds in his hip. and just a smiling/happy son of a b*tch. me, him and a friend of mine ate lunch and listened to his stories and he had a smile on his face about every one of them. so yeah, if that guy is that happy, anyone else who is depressed about their social life is full of sh*t.
