phoenix1 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I'm new to online dating and honestly so far it has been pretty discouraging. I finally received a message from someone who seems halfway intelligent and interesting, but the two photos he has up are partial profiles, can't really tell what he looks like. One is a full length shot, but still mostly blocked face. I'm thinking married, and messaged him back asking him about the no photo thing. He says he's well known in his profession and likes to keep his private life private. I'm a really private person too, but it's online dating! Get over it. Am i being overly suspicious in thinking he is married/taken? I just can't help but smell a rat. I wouldn't even bother but honestly most of the other guys that have responded so far would convince me to stay single forever. Opinions, please. Of course he has seen 4 pics of me.
wilsonx Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 you obviously see a red flag? Just ignore his profile and go to the other 349485949485 guy profiles Dont get yourself into trouble. Always trust your instincts.
oaks Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Many online dating sites have a way for him to have 'private' pictures that he can selectively reveal (ie, to you but not to the whole world). If your site has that, and you want to see a photo, tell him to sort it out! Sorry your experience with online dating isn't great to begin with, but if you're serious about trying it then you need to give it more time. You didn't expect to meet Prince Charming on the first day, did you? There are lots and lots of people doing online dating who you'll find unsuitable, and they overwhelm the number of people who you might think are suitable for dating - but that's just like traditional dating.
oaks Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Oaks should know this topic well. His British looks with bad teeth and ugly face, makes no picture profiles a must... Let's leave out the personal attacks, thanks.
Emilia Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Let's leave out the personal attacks, thanks. Ignore the troll and he will go away
oaks Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Ignore the troll and he will go away Now that he's gone from harmless to obnoxious I think I'll take your advice.
grkBoy Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I'd ask for clear photos or tell him you're moving on. Voice your concerns. If he still dodges it, move on.
Emilia Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Now that he's gone from harmless to obnoxious I think I'll take your advice. It can't be pleasant for you but it will stop
FitChick Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I love British guys. Yummy! To the OP, ask him to send you clearer photos if the website has no private photo option. He could be telling you the truth about being well known. I heard from someone who worked for the British government, who had private photos. As soon as I saw them, I recognized him because I read the British papers online everyday.
