In this case it's the woman's job to insist on condom usage, whether the man hates them or not. I have a very strict policy with any man I have sex with: Since I am on the pill, he will wear a condom. End of discussion. Either we share the responsibility or we don't have sex.

If the male BC pill became available, I wouldn't substitute it for condoms. It would be additional protection, not replacement. There are too many STDs out there, and some of them you can't even test for.

I've never actually met a guy in real life who complained about condoms. It's just part of sex for them, they don't even think about it. I definitely wouldn't sleep with a guy who tried to convince me to go without a condom. That's just selfish.

Seems kind of excessive to require a guy to wear a condom and take hormonal birth control. I mean what would be the point?

In any case, once our tests came back clean my gf but a ban on condoms. Even if I wanted to wear them (which I don't) she wouldn't allow it.

The plus of a male bc pill, from my pov anyway (and assuming it's safe, effective and the guy isn't going to be growing boobs, etc.) is that the guy can have absolute confidence that he won't be participating creating any unwanted babies.

Have you seen the number of posts here where the woman got pregnant because the condom broke, or fell off, or her bc pill "failed" (which is quite rare)? If I were a guy, I would do all I could to protect myself from being a dad if I were not ready for that.

I would be the same if I were a guy. Some guys don't think that way though. They think "I hate condoms and being bare back feels so much better." They aren't thinking about babies, they are thinking about their dicks. Big surprise. :rolleyes:Stupid thinking for sure. Especially if their girl isn't on the pill or some other form of BC.

I have a friend who used "pull and pray" with every girlfriend he's had since high school and none of his girlfriends ever got pregnant. But, sure enough his current gf goes on the pill he's stops p and p and voila she gets pregnant. SMH

Wow how about that. I'd done the pull and pray method. It's risky. What is the percentage of getting pregnant with the pull and pray versus condom usage I wonder? I know with rubbers it's 80%, right?

Condoms are 98% perfect use, 85% typical use. With pull out it's 96% perfect use and 73% typical use. So, if a guy has good control it's about as effective as a condom, on average though, there is somewhat of a drop off.

There's always that pesky pre cum though. That sh*t can get a girl pregnant too. So no matter how much control a guy has over his big load, he can still knock a girl up. Don't you think the percentages are probably lower for pull and pray?

To protect against STD's. To protect against pregnancy in the event of a pill failure. It's foolish to rely on only one method of contraception. If that method fails and you don't have a backup method, you're screwed.

Besides, if two people are having sex, then two people need to take responsibility for birth control. Why should women bear 100% of the burden?

Unplanned pregnancies happen, even when the woman is on the pill. Condom + Pill = No Pregnancy.

Condoms are 97% effective with perfect use. The withdrawal method is 72% effective with perfect use. The BC pill is 99% effective with perfect use.

Withdrawal method = Stupidity.

I would have thought so. But, new studies have found that withdrawal vs condom use is about even. I wouldn't trust it, but that's what the scientists say.

Yeah but you would make the guy take a pill and use a condom and you would be on a pill as well. I mean why not just have the guy wear a condom or take the pill and you take the pill? I'm not saying the girl should have all the burden (although every girlfriend I've had hated condoms and forbid them).

I know I wouldn't see the point of both a barrier and a pill.

I wouldn't make the guy take a pill in addition to all that. He could also take the pill if he wanted to, if it made him feel better to be extra cautious (like if he was worried about condom failure or if he was worried that I would forget my pill). But I know that I'll always be on the pill and I will always require a condom, no matter what. Adding the male pill would be his choice.

The reason I wouldn't say let's both be on the pill and forget the condom is because (no offense, guys) sometimes men can be forgetful. And since the man isn't the one who runs the risk of getting pregnant, he'd be more likely to forget the pill one day. I mean, if he can't even remember his mother's birthday, what are the odds he'll remember to take his pill at the same time every day?
