You're right, I was confused with another type of procedure procedure.

What procedure would that be? Castration?:eek:

I was thinking about some procedure that ties of or cuts off the ejaculation tube, which is not what a vasectomy is.

Condoms do suck. There is no question about that. I hate them too, but they are a must if I'm not on any other form of birth control.

Maybe I'm unusual in not hating them. I can't say I love them, but I think some men protest too much (hence my suggestion to slap them). The worst thing about them is that they spoil the spontaneity - they're never quite within reach when you need them no matter how carefully you plan things.

(but in another thread today I've learned that I'm not a 'real man', so what would I know? :) )

And how often do men get snipped? Usually the woman has to do that too:rolleyes:

I don't know. I was just expressing that condoms aren't the only option for men who don't want to make babies.

BZZZT. Back to class for you! :(

Condoms suck because like you said they ruin spontaniety and they stink. Like literally they smell like rubber. I hate that. Also the guy usually doesn't feel the sex as much. Meaning it doesn't feel as good as it does with no condom.

That doesn't stop me from using them though. Safe sex is a must unless you've both been throughly tested and the girl is on birth control.

You aren't a real man? Who said such a thing? You do seem a little naive. Posting to One Goal for example when you know the guy is a fruit loop.

Isn't the ejaculation tube the same as the urine tube/urethra? It may be back to class for me too:(

Anyways, if a guy can't ejaculate when he has sex that would probably cause problems wouldn't it? Blue balls to the extreme. Ouch!!:eek:

From what I know it works as follows:

Seminal fluid is produced largely by a gland near the bladder, "fertile" sperm cells then are injected from the testicles into the the sperm stream via a tube. In a vasectomy that tube is tied or cut.

The procedure I was thinking about was one that ties off or cuts the tube from the glands that produce the seminal fluid instead of the tube near the testicles.

i hope there's a gonna be male contraception possibility soon. i'm tired of the pill cos of all the severe possible side effects and haven't been taking it for years.

I used to agree about the smell - horrible. Some brands have changed the manufacturing process to the point that I don't think this is a problem any more.

Also the guy usually doesn't feel the sex as much. Meaning it doesn't feel as good as it does with no condom.

On the plus side this might mean the guy lasts longer. ;) There are also thinner condoms (sorry if I'm preaching). But, yes, it feels different.

Yup! :)

I think it was my own conclusion after today's thread about real men.

One Goal could do well to follow the advice he asks for, but let's not derail this thread too far. :)

And ribbed condoms hurt like a bitch!! Maybe I'm super sensetive, but "ripped for her pleasure" is a bunch of bullsh*t. It feels like I'm getting fu*cked with sandpaper

The major downside for men is that they're no longer able to ejaculate after such an operation, which I think takes away a significant part of climaxing.

Personally I don't think I'd ever want to do that, I'd rather use condoms or wait for that male contraception pill, neither would I demand something like that from an SO.

Also the fact that I read where men who have had vasectomies are showing up with a statistically higher % in a particular type of dementia. Condoms have improved, there are some ultra thin ones on the market which help sensitivity. I suspect condom usage would drop with this for sure. Fine when it comes to relationships but definitely not casual sex.

I am sure many guys would take a pill as well as their gf taking her pill. For men that don't want a pregnancy (at all or not for a few more yrs), they will remember to take it (the ones in a relationship anyway). I wonder how much of an impact the failure rate % with the pill is, due to women not taking it for the purpose of getting preganant without the consent of their partner. You'll never know.

I remember reading about long term bc implants for men years ago (testosterone), either on the market or just about to hit the market but never heard anything more about them. Maybe there were side effects because it did not show up in quick google search, just an implant for women. Seems like the new pill is also hormone based. I'm surprised a bit, given the whole AMA/govt steriod hysteria when it comes to testosterone. Go to your doc and ask for andriol and they tell you to get out, but now tell them you want the new 'stopSperm' pill and its no problemo.

Co-signed. Keep those things away from me! I'm not a huge fan of condoms period if I'm really going to have a go, but they're a necessity sometimes. The ribbed ones are awful, though.

Or maybe you're just too dry on the inside and your man wasn't getting you wet.

Kidding Shannon!

Totally! A boyfriend of mine tried them once with me and we used one and I was like "never again!!" They are horrible. I don't know how they could feel good to some women.

I'm all for a male birth control pill, patch or shot.

There is no reason why a man shouldn't have full control on whether he wants to have a child or not, without having to rely on condoms.

I hate pills. Any hormone based BC has terrible side effects on me. The idea of men taking extra hormones sounds a bit scary. Imagine man boobs, mood swings, nausea, lower fertility rates (as if the current trend is not bad enough) and losing hair ( as opposed to women who grow beards on the pill).

I'd love it if men could take over the burden of BC but I see a greater future in improving condoms. It's not just STDs that are dangerous. Depending on a man's lifestyle habits, semen itself can be problematic. A lot of women I know prefer condoms even when in LTRs because they get an inexplicable reaction a couple of days or so after bareback. We suffer from some bacterial infections that can be passed on to our partners but never affect them. They become carriers of sorts. Instead they'll reinfect us very single time. BV is a nasty example:sick:. Sometimes one can develop a sudden allergy to darling's fluids according to my GYN.;)

No. I'd rather some women scientists do some more work on the condom. Change that horrible smell and keep going with the colour and scents. We are suffering from post-coital scrapes and bruises because for some inane reason guys automatically assume we like 'em ribbed, studded and Lord knows what else. Remember the Jiffy Exciter? Nope, we like them thin and smoooooth!

I guess "ripped" was a good Freudian slip. Sounds painful. Try lube?

It was a slip, but it did feel like being ripped. :eek:No lube. How about normal condoms?

Ok but what form of birth control are men in charge of? Condoms and condoms only. Most men hate them and want their women to deal with the birth control. I think it's more then fair for the men to step up and be in charge now.

In this case it's the woman's job to insist on condom usage, whether the man hates them or not. I have a very strict policy with any man I have sex with: Since I am on the pill, he will wear a condom. End of discussion. Either we share the responsibility or we don't have sex.

If the male BC pill became available, I wouldn't substitute it for condoms. It would be additional protection, not replacement. There are too many STDs out there, and some of them you can't even test for.

I've never actually met a guy in real life who complained about condoms. It's just part of sex for them, they don't even think about it. I definitely wouldn't sleep with a guy who tried to convince me to go without a condom. That's just selfish.

The plus of a male bc pill, from my pov anyway (and assuming it's safe, effective and the guy isn't going to be growing boobs, etc.) is that the guy can have absolute confidence that he won't be participating creating any unwanted babies.

Have you seen the number of posts here where the woman got pregnant because the condom broke, or fell off, or her bc pill "failed" (which is quite rare)? If I were a guy, I would do all I could to protect myself from being a dad if I were not ready for that.

I think that's a fair argument. Personally, I hate condoms. So my fiance no longer uses them. We've been fine. Granted, we're each other's firsts so the STD thing is kind of a moot point for us.
