I'm selfish and don't have patience and those are two qualities you can't have if you want to be a parent. I rather have the Jay Leno lifestyle, married and no kids. But the sad thing is how many attractive women have no interest in being a mother? So do I have to PAY to PLAY the rest of my life?

I have no motherly instinct and whatever instinct I have goes to my cocker spaniel. He's my baby and I'm very happy with that. I'm attractive. At least people tell me I am. I don't want kids. Our experiences differ vastly then, none of myself or my male acquaintances are at all intimidated by success in a woman. My friends with successful wives love it. IME it's just an excuse women use for refusing to date men who are not more successful than they are.

A woman that yearns a child is more sexy. Furthermore, it is easy to state you do not want kids now that you are young. But, one day when you are 70 years old and spending Xmas with no family of your own you may feel sorry for yourself. There is nothing more sad than old people with no family.

And while animals are great friends , I doubt it's anywhere near as satisfying as having someone you created. Children are amazing, such a pure spiritual impulse that is contagious , they are the key to brightening up a gloomy and gray home or neighborhood. People who never have kids because they "need" to add another story to their house instead are really missing out.

True, true, but I wasn't pregnant with my dog for 9 miserable months, I didn't birth my dog, I didn't breast feed my dog, I don't have to cloth him for 18+ years, he doesn't talk back, he gives me unconditional love etc. etc. I could go on and on and on. Dogs are cheap in comparison to children. I read about some insane statistic that one child from birth to 18 cost it's parents $225,000+. That's only ONE KID!! Imagine having 4 or 5 kids? And it's not all about money either. Children are a huge responsibility. If you're not up to it, then don't have kids. I'm not up to it, I can tell you that. And I get more joy out of animals then kids. Period.

Yep but you may be sh*tting your pants. There will be no offspring there to change your Depends. That is truly a sad thought, but that's what nursing homes are for, am I right? I'm with you OP. No kids for me. Too much responsibility, too much money and I just don't want to be pregnant. While pregnancy is an amazing miracle, it's not for me.

That is why the hourglass woman was so attractive through the ages--------------it was a symbol of fertility. We are here to propagate the species despite your personal opinion. But, that is OK. A species usually lasts about 10 million years and we humans have been around for 5 million years. At some point we will evolve into something else other than human. Whomever leaves more genetic material behind wins the race. Why do you think the Neanderthal man perished? He did not reproduce as well as the Cromagnon (sp) man.

I agree that there is more to life then that. I just choose not to spend tons of cash on a kid or kids and I choose not to carry a child or children. That's my prerogative. Nothing wrong with that. And I will be that old lady in the nursing home or retirement home that has her cocker spaniel. While it won't be Miloh, it will be another dog like him.

Sorry, i did not want to offend. However, our biological drive to seek the opposite sex for mating is rooted in reproduction. At a conscious level you may think you don't want to reproduce, but when you get horny your instinct is screaming for a child (even if you are unaware of it).

I personally find you MORE desirable for not wanting children. I am sure this rings true with many other men who do not see children in their future. It would make sense that you're seen less desirable by men who want kids. That's just logical. If you don't and they do, they'll be less inclined to date you. But isn't a scientific reason that deals with hormones, this is just basic A B Cs. Not sure what Pierre is trying to infer.

There are plenty of women who have the urge to be mothers who are horrible mothers in real life. Seeking to procreate does not = actual nurturing ability. As it was so aptly said in the movie "Parenthood"... "You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming ******* be a father." ... or a mother. I'm all for people (both men and women) squaring with their actual parenting abilities and opting out if they can't be one. I'm also all for women who expect the father to share parenting duties... and refusing to start a family with men who won't do that. Trotting off to work all day and dumping all of the parenting duties on the woman = bad father.

We'd all have 15-16 kids... ... and for a guy pitching the value of emotional connection during sex... it isn't all about reproduction. Right?
