thatone Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 (edited) coming home from boston, my connecting flight, ugh. the vast majority of the men on this plane coming back to little rock had either a diy haircut or have been needing one for about 3 months. neck beards galore, about half had their best dirty and never-washed baseball cap on. all of the women had a home made bleach blonde dye job and must've been drunk when putting on the massive amount of black mascara they had on, except one, that i was sitting next to, who had an impressive amount of dandruff and a huge blood blister on her hand. i'm guessing a maximum of 1/3 of them took a shower that morning. the first conversation i overheard was some redneck complaining about the pilot on his last flight (that's what they do here, to compensate for being the poorest state in the union, they complain about everyone else to make themselves feel better about the untenable situation of raw misery that they live in). wtf made me think it was a good idea to buy a house in this state? i've lived here for 5 years, and the whole trip home was depressing, because it didn't seem like i was coming home. seemed like i was stuck in a tin can with a bunch of retards. they'll look a lot better in my rear view mirror when my house sells, to hell with this place. Sanman Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Hey Neal, Sorry to hear about the regrets. Hopefully, the house gets sold. I thought you were in New Orleans. Where is the next move?
allina Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Oh my! Good luck with moving somewhere that suits you more.

Yes, Little Rock has nothing on Boston I'm sure your 'tin can' looks very nice though... and it will sell quickly. Just quell the urge to proclaim "I can't WAIT to ditch this po-dunk town" on your way out... gotta pitch all the wonderful reasons for the next person to give Little Rock a try Good luck on the Southern migration! Stop and eat some boiled peanuts on the way... Those 'rednecks' make some AWESOME boiled peanuts... so they aren't all bad. Wish I was in Hot-lanta to have a few... They do have the gift of gab too... and very friendly. Ever notice that about Southerners? People in the Northeast will step over your cold dead body in the street. Which is another trait I've kinda learned to love too, bless their hearts! Edited November 5, 2011 by ThsAmericanLife
Author thatone Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Hey Neal, Sorry to hear about the regrets. Hopefully, the house gets sold. I thought you were in New Orleans. Where is the next move? the next move is home . i've been in little rock since around the time of katrina, i'm from NOLA, and still spend quite a bit of time there (and as i posted in the past few months, dating there), but i've owned a house here in LR for a few years. i was planning on moving back then but the hurricane scared me away, so i went ahead and bought a house here when the storm hit and tried to make the best of it, but the best neighborhood in arkansas isn't even close to good enough. i kept telling myself when NOLA was in such bad shape that this place was enough, and as close as i could get from an aesthetic standpoint (old/historic neighborhoods, if not good at least decent restaurants and a few bars, etc.), but it's just not the same. i guess i didn't really recognize it just spending time in my usual haunts (STL, LR, NOLA) because i know how the people are in those other cities and it isn't much out of the ordinary when i go there, but getting out of town to a new city then coming back made the light bulb go off. cowboy mouth song that sums it up perfectly...
