I was having a bad day. I'm sorry about that argument.

One of the great benefits of that other forum is that you can edit or delete your posts, anytime. Here you have a 30 min window, and that is if nobody else comments after you...and even then, you can't completely delete it!

Ok! :bunny:

Actually, I do think men judge women by their clothes at well.

No, we generally don't, sorry. I'm sure there are exceptions for men who are metrosexual, in the fashion industry, etc., but by and large, we don't. Men judge women on other criteria, that can certainly be harmful stereotyping, absolutely, this isn't that thread though. It's a thread where a man offered the "possibility" of a stereotype that wasn't even expressed as such and got the standard LS placard waving treatment.

If we see a woman in socks and sandals, we just don't care unless it's not appropriate to the venue, high heels on a hike, a hoodie at a wedding. We usually just assume that women wear what they do because it is fashion, comfortable or they like it. The analysis stops there, and all three are just fine with us. Why would we waste time pondering women's clothing choices when there are very important considerations such as, "what does she look like naked?" to occupy our minds with otherwise?

dasein is right.

A woman could show up naked with a pizza and beer, and I'd be impressed.

I could do the same with her, and she would take the pizza, throw out the beer, and tell me to put my clothes back on and leave.

and that, my friend, is the difference between men and women...

men and their pathetic addiction to what's between our legs

I was just waiting for someone to say that! :lmao:

I'm glad that you didn't take offense to that, and realized I was making a joke.

What do you mean?

What do you mean?

He means why are these vapid bitches wearing Northface when it's supposed to be solely for mountaineers?? I'm one of those vapid bitches. I wear Northface because I live in NY and it's cold as f*ck here from November to April. Plus the jackets look good and fit nice.

Vapid bitches???? No, youre putting words in my mouth. The brand has gone down hill since becoming sell outs to the fashion industry, that's all. They just don't have the solid reputation as mountain gear any more.

What's a Member's only jacket? It sounds like something only a dick would wear.

Oh, hohohohoho! You are truly hilarious!

Oh have I stereotyped guys on here for wearing certain clothing? I don't recall doing that. Maybe I'm wrong.

no, no. My comment was not aimed at you at all.

Ok well some of the posters on here are saying that about girls that wear Northface and Pink sweats. Sorry

It's akin to racism.

of course it's akin to racism, because people can pick, choose & change their race as easily as they do their clothes.

Tell me, what race best goes with the Melbourne springtime?

But I will tell you one thing. I bet 250 pound teengers in walmart aren't spending time on message boards pretending the are better then other people. Can you claim the same Dasein.

Yeah. The 250 pound teenager could be doing super constructive things like writing up thousands upon thousands of anti-porn messages.

I wasn't berating; I just want to know how to meet these girls because if you've seen them around, you'll notice that all these girls are extremely hot.

I'm just saying since they all dress and look the same, there must be some common personality traits between them that's conducive to getting to know them.

What's the common personality trait between them?

They have extremely poor taste in fashion?

You do notice the use of "akin" yes? And you know what "akin" means yes? Judging people for how they look is a form of prejudice. Judge a person for the company they keep, that I could understand. But juding them because they wear a certain jacket, or boot, or use peach lipgloss instead of rose is really strange. I certainly have done my own judging of people but my experiences have taught me that I was wrong to do so. I personally find my own life easier when I don't make premeditated critiques of others without knowing them. It certainly isn't something I always get right but people have a way of surprising you that can make you eat your own words or thoughts. It's happened to me.

Now, if I was to play our game, I could say, "Your sarcasm almost seems to imply that people with different skin colors should change them if they could." But I don't think that's what you meant even though I could have taken it that way.

What do you think you are accomplishing through attacking my posts on porn? I'm just curious because it's such a strange "argument" to throw out there.

I don't know if this is something that's nation/North America-wide, but at least in New England, there seems to be lots of girls 18-35 who are really tan (but brown, not orange like Guidos) and always wear black North Face jackets, sweatpants that say "Pink" or "Juicy" across the butt and either slip-on, laceless sneakers or Ugg boots.

They all tend to have really dark, shiny straight hair; the girls 18-25 tend to have it really long, and the girls 26-35 tend to have it in a bob.

What's going on with these girls? What makes them tick?

from my last night in Boston after a week up here, i will confirm this!

minus the pink sweatpants with slutty sh*t printed on the ass, just regular sweatpants.

what can you say, people in general lack originality.

Honestly, unless you're walking your dog, taking a quick late night trip to the variety store, or out for a jog, track pants aren't acceptable.... Unless of course they are Lu-Lu's... Yoga wear is okay.

Chicks wearing trackers with uggs and "juicy" on their azz.... They don't pass the D-lish fashion inspection. You will be judged- not hated, but I would pull you aside and say "what the heck are you trying to achieve here.... Because it's not working...."

That juicy wear is outdated, and it's incredibly trashy.

Uggs are short for ugly- they are for warmth, not fashion forward.

I consider Uggs to be proof that a very large portion of women will wear pretty much anything, no matter how ugly, if media and advertising tells them that it's what they should do. I'm not sure what this implies about the people that wear them OTHER than poor taste, but in college, the girls that wore that stuff on a regular basis were in fact really vapid. Trust me. I was in a fraternity. 90% of the women who drank our cheap brews dressed like that, and none of them had much of anything interesting to say. The ones that either dressed more casually or had more advanced fashion sense at least acted like they had minds of their own. I can't fathom why anyone past college age would wear any of that crap either.

I honestly cringe at the prospects of American tourists going to Europe and going outside with Ugg boots, "juicy" pants, or any similar nonsense.

There are many different styles of Uggs. Some are ugly and some are not. These are the ones I wear and I get compliments all the time on them. They are cute and very, very warm
