And Micheal's music didn't change the world? Yeah he may not have played his own musical instruments, but that doesn't take away from how talented he was and how he changed the world of music. Like I said, Thriller is the #1 album of all time. That says a lot in my book. And bringing his personal life into this is besides the point. Sexual deviant or not, he was extremely talented.

If you were a musicologist you would know the difference.

You are just a fan and I see your point. For me a true artist is a creator of art. A performeris something else.

Dude, how many albums have you created? How many songs have you written? How many instruments do you play?

I just created my 35th demo album a few days ago. I have my own Bandcamp page. I also have over 400 songs of those albums in my iTunes. I play rhythm guitar, bass guitar, lead guitar, piano/keyboards, drums, xylophone, harmonica, trombone, and sing. I have a 2.5 octave range, and was in Concert Choir for 5 years. I have had professional vocal training. I have been on tv as part of a choir, I have performed at Disney World as part of that choir, I have been lead vocalist and lead performer of a band, I have played in clubs.

How many albums are in your iTunes library? Let's count mine: 445 artists, 1987 albums, 25615 songs, 201.33 GB.

And that's not even including my vinyl and tape cassette collection!

Dude, I know more about music than you. I have every genre out there, practically, in my music collection.

And I know Michael Jackson was a genius. His music transcended genres.

And with that last note, please let's end this discussion.

Back on topic: A man sleeping with stuffed animals is creepy. He probably also has serial killer tendencies, or is an overgrown manchild.

Everyone is entitled to their point of view. You can't change their by showing your experience. By the way, ever wondered of starting a solo album?

I also play bass, guitar, and keyboards. I have written songs since I was 13. I don't deny that MJ has talent, however, he is not comparable to The Beatles. If you are a musician you can simply compare the scores of their music.

Musical movements like The Beatles only come once a century.

Btw, I also have a home recording studio and 30 guitars.

Okay, Pierre, this is obviously a difference of opinion.

I agree that The Beatles are/were more influential than MJ. However, The Beatles were more influential than everybody! They influenced everyone, from Pink Floyd to The Rolling Stones to Coldplay to Michael Jackson to [insert any other famous musician here.]

If The Beatles hadn't come along, rock music would have stagnated and died. But that doesn't deny MJ's influence. He broke down racial barriers, broke down gender barriers, broke down genre barriers. He pretty much opened the world of music in the 80's, the same way The Beatles opened the door of music in the 60's.

You don't have to like his music, but you can't deny the genius of his art. That's like saying you don't like Michelangelo because of one particular painting. There is so much music out there that Michael Jackson did, both with his band The Jackson 5/The Jacksons, and also solo, that his career dates back to 1969. And that was only a 6 year difference from when The Beatles started!

ffw, all of my albums are me solo, excluding one live EP. I am not part of a band now.

Oh, and Pierre, I have 4 guitars and also a home recording studio.

I have a pandora account and think both of you have bad taste.

Now can we get back on topic?

I'd love to discuss fills, tunings, and makes of guitars, but somehow I don't think that is on topic. I don't think the OP was referring to a 40 year old man who slept with his electric guitar (although that would be kind of cool!)

Now...can we get back on topic?

Well it was a very serious topic after all, I rather enjoyed the MJ detour, was better than my stuffed animal man derails.

Ok, good post. You make a lot of sense.

Why do the women that cuddle and sleep with live animals are so critical of the man with drugged animals in the bed?

Oops, I meant stuffed. Voice recognition in my droid is acting up.

Drugged animals? What do you mean, what animals have been drugged?

Do you mean stuffed?

Well, I suppose because adults have regular animals, and many of us sleep with our animals. I am associated with an animal rights organization, and I have a lot of cats. Sometimes there will be as many as 5 cats crowded around me in my bed...doesn't matter. I like them, and they keep me warm. I woke up this morning with one of my cats in my arms (too much information, but I thought it was sweet!)

Stuffed animals, however, are fake and are associated with kids. Kids carry around toys and stuffed animals as a security thing, it's something that you're supposed to outgrow once you start dressing yourself.

It is very strange for an adult man to sleep with them, because in my mind, it is symbolized with childhood. And that makes him a repressed adult.

What do you guys think of an adult man (40s) who has several stuffed animals on his bed (like 3)? I assume he sleeps with them. Personally, I don't judge this, as I hug a pillow at night. But just wondering what people's reactions might be to this.

As a man, I can attest that beyond our preschool boyhoods, we really have no use for stuffed animals... but to answer your question, I think that if a man is sleeping with stuffed animals in a non-sexual way, he probably has some psychological illness where he's terrified of being abandoned by his friends and family...

To digress, most of us men became too fascinated with cars and airplanes near pre-school age to bother with stuffed toys anymore.

If a man starts sleeping with his Tonka trucks, then he's got a problem!!!

Five cats in bed?

We don't really know if the man sleeps with the stuffed animals. If he sleeps then I would think that is weird. However, I respectfully tell you that sleeping with so many cats may also be unhealthy.

By the way some states have regulations regarding how many live animals you can have in a home.

Drugged animals? Freudian slip? What kind of kinky stuff is going on in the Pierre household?

Posted

Yeah, um I've checked with the sheriff, Pierre. Being that my grandma has had emergency/ambulance calls here. The number of animals we have is fine.

And unless you're allergic to cats, you're not going to have issues with 5 cats in a bed. And I didn't say that there were always...sometimes there's 1, sometimes there's none!

I have 14 guitars...have played for 39 years. I don't sleep with any of them.

I do , however, sleep with 3 cats. My much-repaired teddy bear, Johnny, is usually on the bed somewhere. No lady friend has ever called me creepy.

(re you comment on the Beatles. I don't like listening to their music but do enjoy playing many of their tunes...especially those with acoustic parts).

Cool. I have been playing piano since I was 11, writing songs since I was 13, and playing guitar since I was 15. I'm 29 now.

I hope to get a new guitar soon. I have my eye on a really expensive one that Matt Bellamy from Muse designed. If not that one, then the Edge designed one, or the Eric Clapton designed one.

It's funny, I've only covered one Beatles song. I did a trippy and experimental version of "Hello Goodbye". I've gotten lots of compliments on it.

I do better with playing John's songs, since my voice sounds the most like his. I don't do well with Paul's songs in general, never have...although Helter Skelter is pretty fun to play on electric!

Yeah, I think if you have a teddy bear, for decoration, it's fine. Sleeping with it, however, is a completely different tune!
