tara6542 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 What do you guys think of an adult man (40s) who has several stuffed animals on his bed (like 3)? I assume he sleeps with them. Personally, I don't judge this, as I hug a pillow at night. But just wondering what people's reactions might be to this.
dasein Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I wouldn't worry too much about it unless he gets one of them pregnant.
OnyxSnowfall Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 LOL.............. Perhaps an ex lover (or lovers) gifted them to him ---- or they have some other kind of sentimental value? Perhaps he had a child (or children) that passed and they are somehow meaningful to him? It would definitely pique my curiosity. I would have to inquire about them.
Art_Critic Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Masturbatory aid ? I wouldn't think too much of it..providing those stuffed animals were way old.. I have known people that slept with their childhood pillow before and it didn't resemble a pillow anymore.. If however.. those Stuffed Animals were given to him by an ex, a recent ex at that then they would need to go.. and I would think he isn't over her and is seeking comfort from her thru the stuffed animals.
AngelTheSadPanda Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I wouldn't worry too much about it unless he gets one of them pregnant. LMAO LMAO LMAO omg that was sooooo funny! wow... just hilarious. Kudos on the great sense of humor. As for the question... I think it's stranger that you got on here and asked us all about his stuffed animals than it is strange that he has them on his bed. But that's just me. I love stuffed animals. I'd find that endearing in a man.
dasein Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Seriously, does he have small children? does he keep family kids ever? more info needed. Are any of the stuffed animals 5'4 or so with a big red wide open mouth and blonde hair?
Duckduckgoose Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I have a few stuffed animals on my bed. I don't "sleep" with them they are just on my bed as decoration. I'm also a 28 year old chick, not a 40 year old man. But my exH and all my ex-bfs had a stuffed toy on the bed, sentimental value. They were all busted up and dirty lol
elfling Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Seriously, does he have small children? does he keep family kids ever? more info needed. Are any of the stuffed animals 5'4 or so with a big red wide open mouth and blonde hair? LOL!!! I think if they are saved from his own childhood or from his kids that is adorable and cute. I would ask something like, "tell me about your animal friends here" and see what he divulges. If he tells some cute story about taking them with him everywhere since childhood, and they look worn enough for that to be true, that would make me like him more. I'm 40 and although I don't still sleep with or play with my stuffed animals, I keep them on a shelf next to my bed. I'm a woman and maybe it's more common for women because men are sometimes afraid to show their soft side or an appreciation for cute things. Because of this, the only grown man I've met who had kept his old stuffed animal was a gay dude, maybe because gays are less likely to feign toughness and shunning their soft sensitive side. But I'd love to see a straight guy show this side of himself.
missed_theboat Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I guess I'm judgmental, because I would find that weird... but for a girl, too. Some of my friends from college had stuffed animals they'd sleep with. It's just not my bag. For a man, I'd be turned off immediately, unless there was some sentimental story to it that was extremely applicable.

It's only irrationally judgmental if you don't try to discover what's behind it... when one "presumes". You're still allowed to be turned off nonetheless, it just may be to your own loss, you know?
Feelin Frisky Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 It's seriously ghey. But if that's not a problem for you then who cares?
Trovador Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Honestly? I think he is a closeted effeminate bisexual guy... I wonder why he chose not to share with you this peculiar trait of his, when you, he, I, everybody knows that it is odd, to say the least, if a male keep stuffed toys in his bed, let alone a 40 y/o...
Forever Learning Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I have never heard of this for a man in his 40's. I had a stuffed animal I brought to college my first year but I was just turned 18 and a girl and that's what we did back then. It was pretty common for girls to bring something like that to the college dorm for decoration or whatever. The guys didn't do that as I recall. I ditched the stuffed animals on my bed within a few years of that. But different strokes for different folks.
Pierre Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 It would be much worse if he slept with his dog.

I wouldn't work myself up into a tizzy over it, but if he didn't have kids, it would strike an odd note for me, probably raise an eyebrow. I've never been one to sleep with stuffed animals myself, even in my own childhood, and while this does not apply across the board many of those I've met who do sleep with stuffed animals or dolls as adults seemed to be suffering from some form of arrested development. I would wonder about that, at the very least. It's not something that would deter my friendship, but it might be enough to forestall any sexual/romantic interest from developing, whether with a man or a woman.
azsinglegal Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 It would be much worse if he slept with his dog. Why? I sleep with my dogs. They're quite the bed hogs but keep me warmies in the winter.
Pierre Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Why? I sleep with my dogs. They're quite the bed hogs but keep me warmies in the winter. Yeah, but you smell like your dog in the morning. And the dog likely leaves residues of dog poop in your bed since most dogs do not wipe after number 2. Withing that context sleeping with a stuffed animal is relatively benign.

He mentioned one was from his mom, etc., I'm assuming they have sentimental value. I duno. He said if he knew I was coming over he would have put them somewhere else. lol. I didn't push it. I honestly don't think it's a big deal but I'm wondering if I am just so smitten with the guy that I'm not being sane about it.

Pierre Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Ewwwwwwwww. Most folks that sleep with animals don't think about that.
azsinglegal Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Most folks that sleep with animals don't think about that. It won't stop me, but one of my dogs does smell like a foot. I need to give him a bath before toting him over to the BFs this weekend.

It is OK, dogs are amazing creatures and live in homes with humans. I just mentioned that because for some people dogs in bed are a no-no and for other people it feels natural. So who cares about stuffed animals. Why be judgmental about something so insignificant. It could very well be decoration. Edited November 2, 2011 by Pierre
oaks Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I've had stuffed animals in my bed at various stages of my adult life... bought for me by some previous girlfriends. They don't stay in my bed beyond the end of the relationship, though.

It could very well be decoration. My BF hates the dogs in the bed, I love it...so they sleep on my side when I'm over there. I even have beds for them, but they're my snugglers. I really shouldn't be as attached as I am. To the OP, the only reason I would think it's weird for a grown man to have stuffed animals in his bed is because I don't own a single one myself. It would be too odd for me...are there holes cut in the bottoms of them?
