SBC Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) Hey! I am seeing so many people on here posting about how miserable they are, and how there is nothing good in their lives now that MM/MW is gone. Lots of feeling sorry and sad, and bad going on here lately. First off, if MM/MW was to magically appear in your lives, it would feel great for a while, but the problems that are leading you to feel this way now will not be solved externally by the presence of someone else in your life. This is the truth. The reasons for your misery lie WITHIN you. Your vessel is too small. To explain what I mean by that --Take a handful of salt and put it in a cup of water and then taste. The water will be salty and bitter. But, take the same handful of salt and put it in a lake and then taste that water. Will it be salty? Of course not, because the lake is much larger. The salt in this example is pain. Everyone has pain in their lives, everyone. The difference between happy people and unhappy people is the size of their vessel that is holding the salt/pain. So, if you are feeling bitter and are in pain, it is a sign that you need to expand your vessel. But how? By recognizing that a fulfilling and colorful life is within everyone's reach. There is beauty and goodness all around us everyday, we just have to see it and appreciate it. When I was feeling really bad and dark and depressed, someone suggested that I keep a gratitude journal. A gratitude journal is a place to write things down that you are grateful for in your life. I set my goal at three things I was grateful for per day. In the beginning I was only able to do one or two things per week. But I kept at it until I started to pick up speed. This was probably the single biggest tool I used to get past my feelings of depression, loneliness and ioslation that I felt. Now, a year down the road, I just say, chocolate and I am rolling along. So, want to play along and have an on-line Gratitude Journal? Aim for three things a day that you are grateful for, but don't feel bad if you can only come up with one a week --just keep working at it. Keep looking for the good stuff in your life, I promise, it is there! Edited November 1, 2011 by SBC
skywriter Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 SBC, I love your attitude, it's inspiring! I'm grateful for, my job, for the positive people that are in my life and for my home.
Author SBC Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Those are great things skywriter, real things, things that take effort and energy to have. They are not gifts from God. I don't know about you, but I have worked too hard for those things to spend my time focused on something that is not giving me a way to help maintain those good things in my life.
18Years2Late Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm grateful for: 1-My 3 Handsome Men (kids) 2-My great job and co-workers 3-I live in the greatest city in America Great thread!! Thanks...there's always, always something to be thankful for...
Author SBC Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 And here is the best part. Within those first three things you are grateful for are a million more things. Think of all the things about your job you are grateful for. I work in food service, I am grateful to have a job, yes. But, I am also grateful that my job helps me stay healthy because I get so much exercise while doing it.
