I went to a new gym today and had an odd gay-dar type moment. Some random guy walks over while i'm stretching and he starts asking for help asking a bunch of questions about how to stretch his thigh.

He walks over and stands a bit too close for comfort. He

s wearing short runner's shorts and begins to massage his thigh in front of me to indicate where he is sore. This is not proceeding like a straight guy convo: more like when girls are giving me a sexual invitation.

I show him one stretch, then walk off and wish him good luck. He looks a bit disappointed. Was I being homophobic in this situation?

As described, I fail to see any homophobia on your part. Why the concern?

You give off a gay vibe in this post. I’m not saying you’re gay it’s just that this post reminds me exactly of the posts where guys come on here wondering if a girl likes them. These guys also seem kind of gay.

If you think the guy hit on you then why not trust your gut. A girl once asked me for help at the gym and I just assumed she wanted me!

It’s uncomfortable to be hit on by some one you are un-attracted to especially when they are the wrong gender. In a way its flattering, but mostly its insulting because its like why would you think you had a chance with me!

If it’s uncomfortable don’t feel bad about acting annoyed.

You’re not a girl being hit on by a man. You’re man and you know how to deal with other men. You look them in the eye and you get them to bug off!

you should ask if it's okay to sukk his dikk, just to make sure he was not hitting on you

A situation like that I wouldn't worry about. If he was trying to get at you that way you did the best thing by walking off

Yeah a bit, but at least you didn't act like a complete dick. Some guys would say "oh I'm not gay" even though the guy wasn't really even hitting on you. Just asking about some exercises.

Who knows if he was even gay. He may have just been asking about stretches because he saw you stretching and figured you knew some things. What gave you the impression he was gay? The fact he stood close to you and had short running shorts? Doesn't mean anything.

If he was gay he would've asked you to meet him in the steam room, not how to stretch;);)

He might have been hitting on you, but don't worry about it. It happens.

Though I admit, the first time is kind of disconcerting.

Maybe you're just irresistible gay guys (like Hokie:p). I've never had anyone do that do me. I'd be flattered--as long as he took my cue to hit the bricks.

Come to think of it there was this time where I was standing out on 2nd Ave in the 90's in NY and this nice-looking but straight-looking and sounding guy just started complementing me saying "you're a hell of a good looking guy". My first thought was if he was an undercover cop maybe trying to see if I was cruising or up to no good. I thanked him for the complement and he went on his way. I suppose that's how it goes if you're gay, and he could tell I wasn't. Still, it's nice to hear compliments wherever they come from.

You are a good guy Frisky! Not a homophobe in the least. ;) Gotta love that.

Straight men that get hit on by gay guys should take it as a compliment and be flattered. You obviously have something going for you if the dudes are looking too.

Why is it disconcerting? Because it's a man? Who cares. It's flattering and should make you feel good.

It is my experience that gay guys are not so subtle as the person in the original post.

If wearing short running shorts to the gym makes a guy gay then most people who go to a gym are gay. As for the comfort distances thing that varies from place to place.

Here in Chicagoland we have a saying, "Is he gay or Canadian". It's a play on the fact that the standards of male behavior in the USA are hardly universal.

It's kind of like that Seinfeld episode:

"She thinks we're gay! Not that there's anything wrong with that!"
