perfectlyflawed459 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Just as the question asks...I was just curious haha
Rorschach64 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Noppers! I like to believe that I am control of my destiny to a degree outside of uncontrollable variables that are out there. Plus some people use it as an excuse to pop smoke on a relationship or make it sound justified etc etc.
Bobby289 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 "The bitterest tragic element in life to be derived from an intellectual source is the belief in a brute Fate or Destiny" - Ralph Waldo Emerson Just as I hate the saying "Everything happens for a reason"... Things do not happen for a reason, things happen because of a reason! Just my outlook lol
Rorschach64 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Yup I agree with you Bobby! Our ex's choose to do what they did and no greater scheme called Fate made them do it, they are responsible for their actions just as I am or anyone else here is!
Mallow Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I believe that every decision I may impacts my future outcome. Do I believe things were mean't to happen? No, I feel that my choices are what brings upon my results.
HeartOfAPhoenix Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Yes, but to a certain degree. I believe in fate in a way that there are paths to outcomes of life. What determines these paths are the choices we make along the way or other people's choices. With this logic there are infinite paths that our life can take and different "fates" for each path, but also realize that our choices are influenced heavily by others so these paths are not so infinite. I believe this way because, if you think about it, certain decisions will restrict you to certain opportunities and you could miss opportunities with whatever path you choose to take. For example: If my ex and I hadn't broken up I would more than likely still be unemployed and would not have been offered an opportunity to move to Arkansas for several months with a good paying job. I am still waiting on the status of my application but I definitely would not have even heard of this opportunity, nor would I have considered such a thing had I still been in a relationship with my ex. I could have taken many other paths determined by my choices but this is where I am in present time. In the future I will, obviously, have made several other life shifting choices and will in turn change my fate. Loose belief but those are my thoughts.
jfxxxx Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 yes. in fact, i believe very strongly in it. i do believe everything happens for a reason, and that the miserable times we go through (e.g. a break up) is one of life's lesson and you must value it. i believe that our life is pre determined, definitely. and that God has plans for us all. i also believe fate will eventually see my way back into my ex's life i don't know why, but i get this feeling and ive had no signs to tell me im wrong so far. x
kittenkit Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I talk about Fate and I say things like "if it's meant to be" but actually, strictly speaking I don't really believe in it - lol. The way I look at it there are millions of possible futures and outcomes and every choice you make narrows it down. You will end up with one future - that's your "fate" but it depends what choices you make. Since I make the best of what I've got and I learn from my mistakes I can always look back and think "wow - if that crappy thing hadn't happened I wouldn't have done this" so I always appreciate the bad times because they have usually taught me something or led me somewhere good. This is similar to "everything happens for a reason" but I don't actually believe that it's pre-determined.
Leegh Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 What I can't understand is why bad things happen to good people, and why good things happen to bad people. Life can be terribly unfair at times.
AlisaMarie Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I do to an extent. It just seems like my fate brings rotten people into my life. As one door closes another opens but it's not always a great door to go through. If I am trying to be taught a lesson in love... it's not sinking in.
Rorschach64 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I can tell you why bad things happen in life and how people can do it. First of all there is no mystical thing up in the sky, this is my belief so it isn't 100% correct till someone can test in a scientific way, handing out appropriate justice or making sure bad things don't happen in the world. People tend to be selfish, immature, and self perservance pro. There is no fate just people actin' a fool and people trying their damn best to be good people.
