A girl I was at uni with last year had a thing for me, but I was happy with my (now ex-) girlfriend so nothing came of it. Since the break up I've been feeling pretty crappy. I was at a party the other night and the uni girl was there, looking pretty hot. We chatted, flirted and then ended up making out against the wall in a lift before going home together. She knows my situation and doesn't seem to care that I'm still in love with someone else. The sex was fun (clearly) and it definitely stopped me feeling so terrible about the ex. Question is, am I just delaying the pain and grief that I need to feel? Or is this a legitimate way to stop myself feeling so bad?

Haha, well - I'd love to get back with her. She was the hottest, funniest and loveliest girl I've ever met... but she ain't coming back (for now at least) after the crap way I treated her (and for as long as her new guy doesn't screw up too much). So, yeah, making do with second best for now. I feel like a bit of a jerk for thinking like that, but I'm not going to lead the newbie on. And she's not ugly, even if she's not a hottie like the ex, but thanks for your concern.
radiodarcy Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 i don't think there is a definite answer to this question. and that the answer will vary from person to person. i am the type of person who gets easily attached (even without sex) - - not to mention it would bring up feelings for the ex and make me miss him even more. so this would not be a good idea for me. but as long as you both can separate out the act from the feeling; and see it as a release and nothing more; then by all means - - enjoy
