I'm 56 good shape and good job, not a type A but rather humble and I suppose I have my fair share of insecurities (like everyone I suppose). Was married once got divorced about 9 yrs ago. Have dated some great women but not THE one until I met the subject of this almost 4 yrs ago. And I have to admit she was THE one. Been a little tumultuous but we seemed to have a real thing going. Maybe me more so than her. I fell deeply and committedly in love. We had a bit of a rif a few weeks ago. In the meantime her ex just got divorced from the woman he left her for. They have kids etc… he is a type A. Now they are hanging together. He is all heartbroken and she is taking him in and they have been meeting with old friends and having a good time. Spoke with her if she saw some future between them two… you know old feelings resurfacing etc… The reply was “ I don't know”. Which says to me that in lew of “Hell no” that the answer is yes. So, At 56 (yea guys it happens at any age) I am going through what I see 20 and 30 yr olds going through with the disadvantage of the ol advice of “you’re young or one day you’ll look back on this” etc. Took 56 yrs to find her now the pain of watching her fall for her ex all over and to be honest I am not nearly as impressive to her as he is. Plus they have kids and lots of old friends together etc… Depressing is putting it mildly. How does one cope with being broken hearted and the real possibility of the rest of my life surviving, but not with that once in a lifetime ONE. [/FONT][/sIZE]
wilsonx Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 She obviously isnt the one if shes hanging out with the ex. Just accept that and keep looking. You have the rest of your life to find the one.
Patrice Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I agree, keep looking. Are you supposed to be in a committed relationship with her? If not, maybe the stuff that split them up before will resurface ... if he's a good time charley, the grass will get greener eventually. Get out, do some things for yourself ... ask some other people out and don't be too available while she is figuring this out.
