I've been told that most people poop everyday, and that if you don't then you must be constipated?

What do you guys think?

Posted

If your stomach starts to hurt due to lack of crapping then I would worry. If not then you are OK.

:lmao::lmao: Great thread title.

I'd worry if it was only once a week. I think you'd notice if you were constipated.

And Pyro and I just exchanged TMI regarding our poop schedules. Thanks for that.

Well usually, for me it's once every 2 to 3 days. Is that okay?

then you are fine.

Do you regularly eat fiber-rich foods like fruits and vegetables?

If you do, and you still move your bowels only three times a week, I'd be surprised.

It depends on what you're eating. If you have 3 meals a day and eat heavy lunch and dinner, then you will go daily. If on the other hand, you eat salads and the like, it's possible that you wont go every day.

I also find that exercise makes me more regular. At first I thought I hada stomach bug until I noted the connection. Do you exercise? If you do, then no worries.

It's all good.

If your poo is hard and bordering on painful to pass, you might just want to add a bit of fiber. The problem with slow digestive systems is that the longer the feces is in the large intestine, the more water is drawn out of it, and the harder and drier it is. Bran will speed it up a bit so that it isn't so hard.

Last time I checked, E-sky, we are all moving closer to the grave.

IME, less volume (of food) and/or more carbs and proteins = less often; more volume and/or more fiber = more often.

As an example, when I travel long distances by air, the combo of less food, less fiber than normal and more alcohol ;) (which can dehydrate), along with less than normal ambulation, pushes things out to three days sometimes.

From what I've seen and read, your 'movements' are within the realm of normal.

Such a funny thread title! :lmao: That makes perfect sense, carhill. More food in, more food (waste) out. Unless there's gastric distension or uncomfortable feelings, I would not worry about it.

Oh, forgot...OP, if you're on any medications, some medications can slow peristalsis and/or increase liquid absorption in the colon, slowing 'movement' and volume. An example would be a relatively dense, hard stool versus a more loosely packed one.

I dealt with a lot of this stuff when caregiving and have noted it in myself with some medications.

Do I need to poop everyday?

:lmao: Too friggin funny!!

Ross I'd say that unless you are experiencing pain then you are ok if you don't do it everyday.

Thanks for the laughs btw I very much needed that bit of comic relief today... and I apologize if I'm making light of this.

I hope you experience a thoroughly enjoyable poo later. Best of luck!

For the record.. I poop several times a day... I eat a good deal and eat a lot of fiber as well as it is just my biology..

I'm normal...

Several times a day to once every couple of days is normal... but any longer and you are constipated.

By the way.. Slow Travel time can attribute to an increase in risk of colon cancer... basically you want the shiot out of your body quicker than slower...

so you are normal...

It's either my fast metabolism or eating a lot ( or both ) but pooping happens every day for me.

I thought it did for everyone. Guess I learned something new.

A definite important topic indeed. :bunny:

I have also noticed that women have more of a problem with constipation than men, in general. (not including medication) Men I know go like 3 to 5 times a day. Most of my female friends were going in a range of once a day to once to 3 times a week. As a woman, I had to work hard on my diet to get on a healthy schedule of once a day. I still work to keep myself in balance always having knowlede of the infamous pooping schedule. I am talking with normal diet, no more food or less, although I do understand about the fiber thing...I ended up increasing it to maintain regualrity more. Different things help to get ya going to such as warm lemon water....apples....can google it and get all kinds of tips for either way.

I go once every 2-3 days. I have a very healthy diet. As long as you don't have to strain too much when you go, and it doesn't hurt or bleed or anything like that, it's fine.

WHAT???

You are kidding, right? I pity whomever needs to poop 5 times a day, everyday.

I usually go once or twice a day, it's pretty annoying to absolutely need to poop when I wake up, cause I can't rush anywhere or do anything else :D, but the bf does it once every 2-3 days and says it's fine. If it doesn't hurt, you don't strain, it isn't too hard, and you have no other symptoms, really, you're fine.

Nothing wrong with not going everyday, however there are studies saying that the longer the stuff stays inside of you, the more contact bad molecules have with your intestine cells, and the more likely you can have problems, such as colon cancer, etc.

So eat plenty of good food, fiber and drink lots of water. Better be safe than sorry!

No I am serious. Maybe they dont go all in one sitting, not sure. Always is the males saying they average 3 or even 4 times a day though. I thought it was alot too. I have pity for anyone who goes more than 2 times a day for sure.

I think they're lying to you. They probably really only take a dump once, and they're punching the clown the other 3-4 times.

Now that, I'd believe.

Totally. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I have not known anyone, male or female, to do it more than twice a day regularly. There is no reason for a normal healthy person to move their bowels 4x a day on a daily basis.

My ex went three times a day, like freakin' clockwork.
