Has anyone's ex ever said they'd NEVER go back to them and still done it?

The reason I ask is that my ex and I broke up and went through the whole no contact thing (she temporarily cut me out of her life). Now we text occasionally, which is ok, although I admit I miss her like crazy. The other day, she randomly texted and said 'are you seeing anyone at the moment?' to which I replied 'just got out of something. why do you ask?'. She replied with 'just curious' and I asked her if she was seeing anyone. She isn't.

Last night, we were texting about rugby (we both play) and after a really intense training session, I said to her 'now I know where you got your muscles from'. She replied with 'you should see them now', so I said 'I'd like to ;)' and she said 'I know :p'..

Now this girl has a policy of not going back to exes. When we broke up, I asked her if it still applied to me and she said 'I tried so hard to make things work, in my head, and I couldn't, so yes, the rule still applies'.

Has anyone ever gone back when they said they wouldn't? Or had an ex who came back to them after swearing they wouldn't? Or what do you guys think of my situation?

I feel so lost but I keep remembering her saying that she never gos back to exes!

oh yeah, a handful of times. It depends on why you broke up in the first place. I'm not going to speculate whether she is interested in getting back with you because I don't know her and wouldn't want to give you false hopes but it would help if the two of you could talk on the phone rather than just text. She clearly felt at the time she tried hard to work things out? Was that the case? Do you think there are reasons she would feel different now?

Thanks for your reply. Why we broke up? Well it wasn't serious in the sense that there was no violence, cheating, lying etc. I think I became too 'needy' for her. It's possible that at the time she tried hard to work things out, but her way of doing that was just to distance herself from me.

I can't see why she wouldn't still have feelings for me now, because what we had felt very solid and strong. I haven't been remotely clingy/needy or anything like that while we've been broken up, so I'm hoping she would be able to see that I'm not always like that etc. But I just don't know. I'd love to speak to her on the phone, but it's only fairly recently that we've started communicating again, but I don't want to rush things/push her away.

No you don't want to push her away again. I suppose the best way to get her on the phone is somehow ending up having a conversation (nothing heavy or personal) that's too hard to continue by text. If you know anything specific she likes chatting about in detail that you could mention and get her involved in the subject, that might work.

I think hearing her voice and how she talks to you would be the best way to gauge what/how she feels - without asking her directly.

That's a really good idea. Thanks. Going to try that.

If she doesn't bite just leave it be and see if she wants to carry on with contact.

Thanks guys. She seems to definitely want to stay in touch at the moment. So I guess it's just a waiting game, I suppose! I'm glad that other people have been in the same boat!
