Well my girl friend of three months just broke up with me yesterday. We have been friends for several years and was a friend of her family for over ten years. She is only 18 and still lives at home her mom did not approve of the relationship from the get go and slowly she drifted farther away from me. yesterday her mom did all of the talking for her daughter and basically said that she wants to break up and just be friends that we were meant to be friends and we should not just walk out of each other’s lives. I do not believe this is possible after being in an intimate relationship and still being so in love with her still. It really hurts and it upsets me that her controlling mom who has said I was like a son to her would do this but you live you learn.

I just feel like I have to cut her out completely even though I would do anything for her and would give my life for her. Any help on how to go forward and to best cope would be greatly appreciated.

If you are close to the family and she is hurt her mom will clearly see that. It is a crappy situation, how old are you may I ask? Just because it sounds like the mom is worried...

I see how that can be upsetting to you. It sounds like her mom was two-faced and didn't like the idea. If your significantly older then her, then that might be a reason. But what i don't get is why didn't ex fight against that? If she wanted to be in a relationship with you, wouldn't she won't care what her mom thought? I would certainly listen to my parents, but as a guy i wouldn't let them make me break up with a girl I cared about...just a thought. I wish all the best for you man. Stick in there.
