Just me 1980 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Hi all, Do you believe in reconciliations? Do you know of any happy stories where husbands and wives broke up, perhaps even divorced and the reconciled after a few years and they are still happy together? Or do you believe that once broken up, people stay broken up?
rayannebrennan Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 It really depends on the reasons for the break-up and the people involved. I would say if the two involved were really serious about getting back together and making it work, than sure. But both parties need to put the past behind them truly and not live in what used to be, but in what can become. Like if the relationship ended in an affair, than the one who was cheated on has to forgive and forget what the spouse did... and the spouse that committed the affair would have to put the feelings towards others behind them as well.. It is a sticky situation, but it can work if both parties involved are truly dedicated.
january2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 In my neck of the woods most people end up working through it and staying together 'for the sake of the children' or some other reason. I think it might be because there's still a social stigma attached to divorce and separation.

It was very difficult and a lot of work, that said if she'd have been having an affair I don't think we'd have made it.
