MikeyK Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I have crooked teeth. They are white but I'm self concious. I can't afford braces, I'm 19 By the way. People have said they are fine and not noticable but I am just worried. The picture makes them look worse. I take care of them and they are whiter. http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee377/mikekovacs1/IMG_20110926_142209.jpg Are they bad?
Dazdnconfuzed Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Nah dude they are perfect for platinum plating!
AHardDaysNight Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Eh, one of the most successful men I know has crooked teeth. He's a successful DJ, by the way. Very famous, gets talked about often. If a girl likes you, she won't mind your teeth. If they bother you that much, though, you can always get braces (you can get some that don't show!)
Author MikeyK Posted October 16, 2011 Author Posted October 16, 2011 I cant afford braces. If I dont get them ever will I be screwed?
Feelin Frisky Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 You could chew the barnacles off a harbor buoy with those. But, that's not a bad thing.
Feelin Frisky Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 How bad are they? Not terrible. Excellent by English standards actually. Seriously, don't sweat it. If you have a good personality and don't have bad breath, you probably won't do any worse than a person with straight teeth. Yours are not ugly as far as teeth go.

anne1707 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Excellent by English standards actually. Frisky! How could you! We do have dentists in England!
CarrieT Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I'm going to be the first dissenter in the thread. Yep, for me those teeth are a turn-off... There are ways to get discounted dental care. Most dental schools offer deeply discounted services if you are willing to let the work be done by students. One of my exes had to do this and all the work is overseen and guided by trained dentists. Unfortunately, he never got the work finished and now his teeth are even worse (his own fault). I'd make it a priority to figure out ways to get braces.
Author MikeyK Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 How bad would you say they are? I have been told that they are ok but you guys know me. Also what about small hands? My hands are 179 mm from tip of middle to bottom and my wrist is 6.5 inches. Some girls handsb are bigger, is this bad? If I donvt get my teeth fixed, will it be bad?
USMCHokie Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Teeth are important to me...and gnarly teeth easily draw my attention because I'm always drawn to look at a girl's mouth if I want to kiss her...and icky teeth WILL drive me nuts when I'm constantly looking at them...but I have one crooked tooth on the bottom row myself...dentists never thought it was bad enough to ever need braces when I was young... But yes, your teeth could use some work...
CarrieT Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Small hands are nothing. I think the teeth are bad and should get fixed as soon as possible.
USMCHokie Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Small hands are nothing. I think the teeth are bad and should get fixed as soon as possible. Meh, I have girl hands too. Never been an issue...at least i think...
Author MikeyK Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Small hands are nothing. I think the teeth are bad and should get fixed as soon as possible. I can't afford them as I'm going back to school. What should I do?
CarrieT Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I can't afford them as I'm going back to school. What should I do? Have you even investigated dental schools like I suggested? If you haven't, then you have no idea what the cost would be to state you can't afford them.

These people are professionals and know that a lot of people can't plunk down that kind of money. Anything can be taken care of if it is a priority to you. It may take a while and scrimping and saving and not doing other things (movies, eating out), but in the long run, it will pay for itself.

I can't afford that
Author MikeyK Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 What should I do? How would you rate my teeth
CarrieT Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 With that and school it will cost 15,000. I can't afford that Again - it is your life. I understand it is expensive and may be something you can't do immediately. But I would certainly make it a priority if it were me. I'm just thinking back to a guy I lived with for almost a dozen years who continually couldn't afford to take care of himself. But he could buy his CDs and concert tickets and as we approved our 40s together, his teeth got worse to the point where he didn't even smile. I think back to his daily latte and the thousands of CDs he had and realized it was a matter of priorities for him moreso than his health or well-being. Everyone has to make their own decisions about what is important and I know you are at a point where your education is a priority. I respect that. But you asked about your teeth and to me - in a dating situation - they would be a deal-breaker because it looks like you don't care enough about yourself to handle it. That would just a first impression, regardless of the back-story on finances.
Author MikeyK Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks. I have decided to put school off for a few years and II will focus on my teeth as my dads plan cover 2 grand until I'm 21

Author MikeyK Posted October 17, 2011 Author Posted October 17, 2011 Education > teeth. I'm conflicted as I don't feel I can pass it o don't know of my teeth are bad enough.
Nexus One Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 With that and school it will cost 15,000. I can't afford that Invisalign costs roughly $5000 - $8000 for the longest brace treatment. You're only 19, once you start making money it will become an option.
