Why shouldn't it be? From a macro-political standpoint, race mixing has all sorts of negative implications: elimination of cultural diversity, loss of a sense of identity, and, in some instances, economic stagnation. At the same time, I cannot think of a single benefit of creating one borg-like mixed race.

 

So while I don't think there should be laws against miscegenation, as it ultimately comes down to individual choice, I believe that interracial relationships should be discouraged by society and people should be raised to be proud of their heritage. And before someone accuses me of racism, I'm not just talking about white people respecting their heritage...I'm talking about all people embracing and preserving their unique racial, ethnic and cultural identities.

 

We had the same discussion about women working outside the home. I think individuals should mind their own business and let people do as they want (within reason). Certainly parents can raise their children to whatever level of morals or philosophy regarding interracial relations that they wish but otherwise everyone should just butt out. Obviously you think things should be run differently with a more interventionist society looking out for everyone's (supposed) best interest. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

You can argue about science but in the end, we're all the same species. Whatever your sexual orientation, you can't control who you're attracted to. Sure, we have our preferences and certain traits are more attractive to us than others might be but if you're a man and you like women, why explain or feel weird that you like-----women. If you're LGBT you're attracted to people of your gender. There's no need to explain away or feel guilty about that.

It's because of comments and sentiments like this that lead to people feeling like the original creator of this thread. As an American, I find that due to societal pressures, a lot of people who are attracted to different races can sometimes lash out at their own race in what I feel is a means to subconsciously justify their actions in order for it to make sense to small-minded people. It is the world we live in. And feelgoodman, I apologize as I do not intend to offend you nor do I think that because you seem 'small-minded' that you are stupid or racist. I mean small-minded in the sense that you are against something that is without a doubt, human nature. An aspect of human nature that obviously does not pertain to you.

 

Interracial marriage was outlawed until about 40 or 50 years ago. The current plight of the gay community reminds me a lot of that particular struggle as well. Live and let live. If you're against it, don't do it. If you want to do it, do it. Love is something that can enrich your life in ways that some people didn't know possible. To deprive ourselves of the love experience on anyone else's account, especially when it is something we as people want to experience-----we're only doing ourselves a great disservice. Personally, I owe myself more than that and I would only hope that other people feel the same.

MAN came from Africa when the chimp line split in two. A chimp is 98% genetically similar to MAN.

 

Races among MAN develop because of natural selection. Some genes were better for a certain environment. When the early MAN migrated to the north there was a need to have pale skin to maximize sun exposure and to keep up the synthesis of Vitamin D.

 

The MAN that stayed in Africa needed dark skin to be protected from the strong sun. Dark skin is like sun block and that is why Vit D deficiency is so common in dark skin people living in northern climates.

 

But MAN is not isolated anymore and now we have racial mixing.

 

When a Black person mates with a white the offspring is black and if this is done with very high frequency this becomes ethnic cleansing where the white population is slowly decimated by simply mating with Blacks.

 

Why do you think we have so many different breeds of dogs? We have different breeds because people control how the dogs mate. If dogs were free to breed on their own we would have nothing but mixed dogs.

 

This is not a matter of racism or prejudice.

 

We must accept that in the future we will see little variability among humans.

 

If you visited Europe a 100 years ago you would see Germans in Germany, English in England, and French in France. If you go today you see the a large number of different ethnic groups in the major cities and a loss of the original culture.

Since the beginning of records, their have those that have called themselves,

"the chosen race" the superior race, this would also be related to the creation of kingship and the right to rule. Royalty or the "upper Class" would never mix with what they would consider to be a inferior race based entirely on a royalty complex.

 

Those who also use the strategy "Divide and conquer"

This is why sex and race because of easy visible differences have been the primary ways of organizing humans into superior and inferior groups, when ever there is a control problem, one of these groups will be played off against the other, to regain to gain further control.

 

It would be nice to think as we get older most of us become more comfortable with the different aspects of the various races and rise above any negative associations to mixing and move closer towards equality.

My marriage doesn't exist to make a "progressive" statement as you call it. I married a man who I love deeply, a man whose values are similar to mine, a man I would have married no matter what his race was.

 

As I mentioned, I have no issue with those who choose to not date outside of their race, and I was not preaching. I was addressing an untrue, negative generalization.

 

I have a huge issue with what Feelsgoodman said because it was an untrue, hateful blanket statement. It is clear that he is trying to shame people for dating outside of their race because he disapproves of it in the general sense. He thinks that he can discourage people by painting relationships like mine as "low class" and "undesirable." This goes much further than him sharing his opinion, and his motives are clear and hateful.

Statistics are always done over a very small area, i would also say that it is fair to say that interracial coupling has increased a fair amount over the last 100 year, on a intentional scale this because much more obvious when traveling to places, such as, England, Germany, France and Italy where coupling of nature seems, white people as far as i can tell are becoming more and more intrigued by both Asian, Indian and black races.

It's because since the end of WWII successive Governments have set about to have the native British people like myself ethnically cleansed from our homeland. I am British as well, though i dont currently live in the UK, I am aware of the racial mixing and diversity which is currently ongoing and considering WW2 to some degree was all about eugenics, it would be no surprise to find out these elitists are still at work. I'm glad I don't live somewhere where the people don't have a say in who their "leaders" are and have to put up with people born into a certain family.

 

I always hear alot of brits supporting the aristocracy, but I wonder just how many of them think the royal family are nothing but royal drains on their pocket books that do next to nothing to earn it.
