Mark1 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 There is a girl I've known as acquaintances for about a year. She is fun, very smart, and very pretty. I met her at a party, and she approached me, and we flirted. Saw her campus bars, flirted then, as well. Saw her once briefly over the summer. Last time I heard she had a BF (that was in May). Now that the school year has started again, part of her campus job, she comes to MY campus job a lot, while I am there. If I asked her out and she declined, itd be pretty awkward whenever she came by. I also don't know if she still has a boyfriend or not. It was her birthday the other day, and I wished her a happy birthday, and she very enthusiastically said thanks and held her eyes to me for a few seconds as she walked away. What do you guys think?
Leegh Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I would ask her if she wants to meet for coffee, or something casual to do during the day, that way it's not an official date. Possibly with the up-coming holiday season, you may see her at a holiday event, and strike up a conversation with her at the event. Also, when it gets a little closer to the holdiay season, you could ask her if she knows of any up-coming holiday events.
Pasttense Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I don't understand why you think it would be pretty awkward if you asked and she then declined.

Yeah just ask her out. Ask her if she's still seeing anyone and if she's says no then ask if she wants to hang out sometime. I'm sure she will accept. It sounds like she likes you.
Author Mark1 Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 I don't understand why you think it would be pretty awkward if you asked and she then declined. Because she comes to my work often, is all. Should I say, "Hey, I was going to get coffee after work, do you wanna come?" or "Hey, would you like to get coffee sometime?"

Eddie Edirol Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Because she comes to my work often, is all. If it was awkward, its only awkward because YOU let it be awkward for you. It wouldnt be awkward for her. Think of it this way. Woman 1(this one) turns you down for coffee. If you had woman 2 that you wanted to ask out already lined up, and she said yes after woman 1 said no, you wouldnt feel awkward then would you? Because every time woman 1 comes into your shop you would think "Eh, who cares about you, I got woman 2 now...." Edited October 8, 2011 by Eddie Edirol

Should I say, "Hey, I was going to get coffee after work, do you wanna come?" or "Hey, would you like to get coffee sometime?" I'm not a fan of "asking". Nothing good can come from asking a woman anything. Tell her what you want instead. "Let's get coffee sometime! What is your number." I do agree that it sounds that she is into you. Go for it!
