I didn't think this was a 'date' at first but now I'm not sure.

I have a very nice online/text friendship with a man I enjoy very much. We do see each other in person from time to time, once a month or so (we have a lot of mutual friends) but usually we just chat back and forth.

Lately he'll message me first thing in the morning and we chat on and off all day. :o

In the past couple of weeks there have been some suggestions of getting together, a movie, drinks, a show, but nothing confirmed. As far as I was concerned, just hanging out as friends, we really do have fun conversations. Then on Wednesday I just went ahead and asked if if he wanted to go out for a beer on Thursday (last night.) He said sure. I suggested we go to a pub but he chose a quiet, small restaurant.

So anyway, we chat back and forth all day then meet up. :) A beer turned into dinner and drinks, we had a slightly-awkward but nice time. Stayed for about 3 hours. He insisted on paying.

Quick hug on departure, but he held me tight and put one of his hands on the back of my head/neck. It was very sweet.

So he asked me to text him when I got home safe. I did and he replied with, "It was great to see you! I feel like I wasn't entertaining enough though, boo. Need to make you laugh more."

I told him not to be silly and from there regular chit chat went ahead.

What do you think is going on?

Well... here's a non update...

Things are still as they were before our maybe-date.

He was hinting around yesterday about getting together but I couldn't.

I asked if he wanted to go out to a movie or something today but he is coming down with a cold and said no :(

I guarantee he thinks your dating... if that's not what you want I'd let him know asap.

he's just shy and doesn't know what he's doing. the "didn't make you laugh enough" is a dead giveaway.
