Texan1983 Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 I am female, 5'8, 139. I want to lose 20 - 25 lbs. Is this unreasonable? Thank you. M.
CurlyIam Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 So, if I understood corectly, you are 1, 7272 m tall and around 61 kilos and you want to loose 9 kilograms. My answer to you is that it depends a lot on your bones' structure. You are quite tall, this is why I believe 10 kiograms is way too much. But than it's very important to reach the weight that you feel cofortable with. If you feel comfortable being that skinny, go for it! I think 15 kilos under your height (in meters ) are perfect - that way you don't risk anything, medically speaking. 10 kg is a very big change to your organism, so take it slowly. Good luck to you!

This depends on how you feel that you look. Then again, some people have horribly disfigured self perception, and I am one of them. This also depends on your age. Based on the body mass index for an adult, you are in the normal, healthy range at 21.1. The mathematical formula used to calculate body mass index (BMI) are located at the CDC website: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/bmi-adult-formula.htm A female at 5'8", and 139 pounds would actually be quite thin. I am inclined to say that losing 20–25 pounds would not be a good idea so far as your health is concerned. You might become underweight.
