Who knew he had such a kind and generous heart? Sounds like he took advice from George Clooney who does the same.

I can imagine that I might do something similar, in amicable partings with longtime loves that I still cared about, if I were rolling in huge mountains of cash...but it's hard not to believe that Cowell and Clooney are paying out hush money.

He gave a pretty good interview with howard stern a few weeks ago where he talked about this. Seems like a pretty genuine guy.

I never understand why people who are just being honest get such a bad rap.

Bottom line is, it's his business and I'm glad he does it.

Moving on...

I quite like Simon. The impression I got (obviously only from watching documentaries) is that he is very specific about what he wants in a woman. I can well imagine him giving away a few million here and there to keep the peace.

I hope he finds what he is looking for one day. If not, I think he is well prepared to just be single and enjoy what he does get.. which seems to be fine anyway.

Personally, I reckon he is looking for someone suitable enough to have a child with. If they aren't suitable, he movs on.

I like him a lot. :)

Take care,

Cowell, like Clooney, has said he doesn't want kids. If he had them they'd never see their dad so it's just as well.

Because of the internet, a lot of celebs are becoming very cautious about whom they are dating. Gerard Butler said he doesn't get as much sex as he used to because he doesn't want his private life blabbed about. Can't blame the guy for wanting a little privacy. (Gerry, I promise I won't tell a soul!)

Seems like an excellent way to put yourself on the radar for golddiggers even more. Not the best idea if you're looking for a quality woman, great idea if you're looking for those kinds of women.

Simon is a smart man. :)

Yeah. I'd like to see ex-GFs still giving head to their ex-BFs. Try never.

It must be hard to be a celebrity.

Oh, sorry, I must have got him mixed up with someone else. :o Could have sworn he had spoken about wanting kids!

Yeah, Gerard is HOT.

Maybe marriage/relationships really is just so horrible for women and thats the reason they feel they should be compensated financially when it's over?

Actually, studies over the years show that to be the case. Married men are much happier than single men, single women and married women. That's why they remarry even after disastrous divorces. They are clearly getting something out of it.

This is exactly what I thought. Assuming he genuinely wants to attract a long-term partner, he's creating perverse incentives that will only attract more golddiggers...

I get the impression Simon Cowell enjoys being generous with his money, and it also makes good business sense. All his ex girlfriends (not surprisingly) always publicly speak so highly of him.

It's probably partly a business strategy...but also a personal thing. Simon Cowell fell on very bad times in the late 1980s when he went bankrupt, and as I recall he took Sinitta down with him. He probably feels that she stood by him, and various people in the industry helped to pull him back up on his feet.

I don't think he's the type of person who got where he is now by holding a bitter or vitriolic outlook...or by deluding himself that he was making it all on his own without the help, goodwill or support of other people. A big part of his success is built on being this charismatic combination of generous "people person" and hammed up steely eyed record exec stereotype.

One of the reasons for modern women to applause Simon Cowell and George Clooney with the term ''gentlemen'' and with the subtext of these fellas being true men, and that more men should be like them comes from the fact that these Alpha males are dumb as hell.

Perhaps if you contact Simon Cowell he'll pay you a generous salary to teach him how to be more smart and successful in life. Then you won't need to feel so jealous of his ex girlfriends for getting so much money for so much worthless old rope.
