antz2411 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I just ran across this book title, "The ethical slut", on a chick's page on OKCupid. It sounds like feminist baloney, but I don't know anything about it. I wonder what everyone here would say. Ethical or not a slut is still a slut haha.
Sooner or Later Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 This term refers to consensual non-monogamy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ethical_Slut
Author antz2411 Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 i wonder, your in a relationship, and you don't say anything to your partner about reading a book like this one; how they would act towards you reading this book. haha i can just imagine the outcome
Thieves Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 This term refers to consensual non-monogamy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ethical_Slut Yep. I think it'll work for some and not for others. If I'm remembering correctly when I read up on it, one of the reasons I was suspicious of it was because the author - or it might've been another author with the same view - said she follows consensual non-monogamy or open relationships partly because she didn't agree with the possessiveness/jealousy of a partner that often happens in monogamous relationships. Then, went on to reveal later that her partner can have sex and be with other women (and vice versa), but is not allowed to do certain things during sex, and is basically not allowed to get emotionally close to other women. Anything else that was just physical was fine. It struck me as ironic, seeing as she was disagreeing with being possessive/jealous in monogamous relationships, and it seemed she would become possessive/jealous if her partner did create another strong emotional bond with other women. Again, this is all going by when I read up on it a little while ago.
