Nah, I tend to close my eyes when i hear those songs, it's silly I know, but they just make me completely numb.

ok... so naked, metallica guitar playing babe is background music... That could work (depending on the situation).

So tell us... which music do you listen to with your eyes OPEN?

I will survive....

I hate leaf-peeping season... I travel around New England for work (and live there, of course) and it can be a pain getting the nice hotel rooms in Vermont when it's leaf-peeping season. Pretty much have to book them two months in advance, and even that doesn't always work. Things are pretty late this year, overall, but the whites are looking pretty.

You live here??? and you hate leaf peeping season? Ok. I hear you. When I lived in FL, I'd hate snowbird season too. It is that time of year when (depending where you live) you can't get to the corner store without dealing with a bunch of 'lost' out-of-towners... I get it..

But to those who haven't been up here... It really is amazing.

I recommend not planning in advance (believe it or not!!)

A couple of years ago, me and another friend just drove from state to state... checking the 'leaf' map and forecast every morning...

Then around 4 or 5 pm, started looking for a place to stay. We never struck out. No reservations required.

My last trip to Paris was done the same way. People would be surprised to know the deals one can get if you are prepared to 'wing' it on any given day. :)

I live in the more northern "M", but yes: I live here.

I only hate it as a manner of feeling like "a local", obviously - and I certainly don't hate the aesthetics. Those are very nice. I took a picture today of a splash of red-turned maple against a sea of green, which looked particularly nice, and I suppose also suggested that sometimes not holding on to summer allows you to stand out in a crowd.

What are the songs you feel best describe you? Your personality? What motivates you? Marks a turning point in your life?

Oh, man... so many! Alright, I'll give it a try.

"Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. (First band I ever got into as a young teen).

"Meet Me In the Morning" by Bob Dylan.

"Gypsy Eyes" by Jimi Hendrix. (Ultimate favorite musician :o).

"Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. (First song I learned to play on guitar, also shared this song with an 'ex').

"Everlasting Light" by The Black Keys. (Always cheers me up, plus it's The Black Keys, so...)

Awesome choices Thieves. I'd agree with all of them. For me it's hard to choose any one. Top of the list would have to be Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd. Although I have never been to the South or America, something about that song just speaks to me, and it has become a bit of a ritual song for me. It always plays when the new year crosses over. And after my exams finish it is the first song that I will play as a celebration.

Coming in as a close tie for second is Pink Floyd's Echoes. It is actually completely in sync with the last 24 minutes of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I often watch the video on youtube at night to trip out. I actually feel like I have achieved some sort of nirvana during the psychadelic bits with the colours everywhere. Unfortunately it seems to have been taken down from the site now though :(

And then there is Jimi, the first artist I truly loved. The reason I began playing guitar. Hey Joe is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard and it's the reason I began playing guitar. It's been covered by countless artists, but of course the original just has that magic about it. An amazing icon.
