snug.bunny Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Well, my friend's reasoning is, if he has to put the seat up everytime he pees, why can't his spouse just put it down? Why does he have to lift it up and put it down and the wife can't just put down the seat when she wants to pee? Your friend makes a good point. The thing of it is, toilet covers were manufactured as a seat with a lid on top. They were not meant to be kept open, but rather, kept shut to contain the inside of the toilet. Same with kitchen cabinet doors, refrigerator doors, dot dot dot. You open them to access the inside, and then you close it when you are done. If your friend forgets to lower the seat, after he raises it to use the toilet, well hey...people forget to do the most mundane things and it's no biggie. If he has difficulty remembering to close the seat afterwards or because he just "doesn't want to", and it is causing friction between he and his wife, I think a better alternative is to purchase one of those special toilet covers that closes automatically. No one then has to worry about remembering to put the seat down.
make me believe Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Well, my friend's reasoning is, if he has to put the seat up everytime he pees, why can't his spouse just put it down? He sounds too immature to be married. I feel bad for his wife. Does he leave all of the cabinet doors and drawers open because he's just going to have to open them next time anyway? I mean, all of that extra effort.... it's almost as bad as having to lift up the toilet seat!!
Trojan John Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Does the splash factor really matter that much? Think about this : All odours are particulate. If you can smell it, then it's already on your tongue, in your nose and in your system. Those fine urine and sh*t particles floating about in an invisible cloud, all about your home. Oooh, and think about the people who own pets...

xxoo Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 If you look at it another way, isn't the wife the immature one who is nagging about such a matter? BOTH would do well to consider the relationship more important than this small issue. If I were the wife, I would focus on building up our bond. Grow the love. Inspire him to want to make me as happy as I make him. Then these power struggles just disappear. He'd put the seat down because he considers her, not because he has to do it "her way".
Art_Critic Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 If you look at it another way, isn't the wife the immature one who is nagging about such a matter? An argument could be made for that but what comes first, the leaving of the seat up or the discussion of it ? Some things are just trivial and shouldn't cause problems in relationships but they do, in reality it is how those issues get addressed is what really counts. It's like in Customer Service.. Every company has problems so the customers don't hold that against a place "IF they fix the problem in a timely manner" If they don't then they will complain and publish a bad review
