lonelynyc Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I know these threads typically feature movies like "500 Days of Summer," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," and "High Fidelity" but I had a somewhat unconventional addition to this sentimental pile of cinematic coping. The final scene of "The Wrestler," a very disturbing and graphic Darren Arronofsky film about an over-the-hill professional wrestler's physical and spiritual hardships, is so life-affirming for me. Especially when he says "In this life you can lose everything and everyone you ever loved" but damn it, you're still standing and no one can strip you of certain key elements of yourself. The film's protagonist is a major screw up at life, love, everything, but he still belongs somewhere, he still has his humanity. When I was watching this last night, it resonated with me. I broke up in happier tears than I have in a while. I have lost nearly everyone I have ever loved, but I'm still here. And despite all my flaws, my pathetic behavior, I am a good person and I still have something to share with the world, someone will appreciate me. Here's the clip: Anyone else have any additions, good movies, scenes that helped them cope?
immitable Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Movie "The Holiday", very nicely put if you watch from minute 5 on, but the whole movie simply restores hope, enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKiMxCE59cQ&feature=related
danceallday Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I am surprised no one has mentioned The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/
