Dazdnconfuzed Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I have an on-going debate with a couple of my male friends and was hoping you can answer this from the right gender's point of view for this question... Do you remember the first man that ever got you flowers?
FrustratedStandards Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 What? Men give flowers? You mean some parents actually still know how to raise their kids right?
january2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yup, I do. The fact that he was gay and it was in the context of a work leaving present presumably doesn't matter.

Fondue Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 What? Men give flowers? You mean some parents actually still know how to raise their kids right? Show me one woman in her young 20s that expects flowers on a first date. Hell, show me one that wouldn't think you're just a little bit strange/odd/"different" for doing so.
jennifer4 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes I do He was my first husband. We started dating when I was 17. I still tell my guy friends that this is the way to go. Instead of a bunch of flowers, a single rose works best. he would leave a single rose or other flower on my car after work, occassionally. meant alot to me. and still does. even though we are now divorced. I did have some weirdo show up on a first date with a dozen red roses! now, thats crazy! there wasnt a second date:lmao:
Jaina19 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes I do I also remember the first man that bought me dinner as well Show me one woman in her young 20s that expects flowers on a first date. Hell, show me one that wouldn't think you're just a little bit strange/odd/"different" for doing so. I don't expect them, but I hope for them. I'd think he was different in a good way
Cee Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 No, I don't. I'm too old to remember that long ago. Flowers might have been special the first time, but that memory has faded. I've never been fond of getting flowers. The act of trashing dead flowers never sat well with me.
Beachgirl8 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes, it was my second date with K. He showed up at my house with a dozen roses, all different colors. He said "I didnt know which color you liked, so I got them all!" It was really sweet.
Janesays Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes, it was a dozen pink roses with a beautiful card. I loved them. I remember the last time I got flowers too. It was a small flower pot of mini orange blooms of unknown origin that my boyfriend picked out because he knows my favorite color is orange and I love miniature things. I loved them more.
Forever Learning Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes, it was my second date with K. He showed up at my house with a dozen roses, all different colors. He said "I didnt know which color you liked, so I got them all!" It was really sweet. God, that is adorable! What a sweet man! Lucky you.

lemonlegs Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I've gotten a dozen roses (yes, roses!) on Valentine's Day for the past three years... and they were all from different guys. The first year, I was 17... and it was from my first serious boyfriend. He turned out to be a d-bag though. The next year, it was from a guy that was trying, really hard apparently, to 'woo' me. Then, this past year, they were from my current boyfriend. He's also gotten me flowers on my birthday for the past 2 years, as we as when we were broken up and had reconciled.

xxoo Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 No, I don't. It might have been my gay prom date in 11th grade , but I really don't remember for sure.
joeyanna Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I have an on-going debate with a couple of my male friends and was hoping you can answer this from the right gender's point of view for this question... Do you remember the first man that ever got you flowers? Yes, it was my first boyfriend and the day was my sister's wedding day, he turned up with three bouquets, one for my mum, one for my sister and handing one to me said, 'I was getting one for your mum and sister so thought, well I suppose I should get some for you too' - not actually a very nice man lol!
Savannah323 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes, I do. On Valentine's day, I received a single red rose from a guy who had a major crush on me. He was very sweet and this gesture added to his appeal,
Ruby Slippers Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Yes. My first love gave them to me. The last guy I dated somewhat seriously was the last guy to give me flowers, and he did it for what I think is the best reason: just because. He also gave me the best flowers anyone ever gave me -- nice, unique ones from a good florist. And he even gave me a fancy designer vase to put them in! I wish he hadn't gotten all weird and stalked me on my computer at the end. He gave awesome, eternal massages.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Well, I do remember the first man that gave me flowers (other then my father of course). It was a first date and we never went out again after that. However, I remember the 2nd time a man bought me flowers and it was a man I dated after that other man, that sent them to my work and I was very surprised and grateful. He even made sure some of my favorites where in it. Flowers are a beautiful gesture when you and the man have already established something. Bigger points for remembering and buying your favorites.
soserious1 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 yes I do remember! The first man to buy/bring me flowers was my father :-)
FrustratedStandards Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Show me one woman in her young 20s that expects flowers on a first date. Hell, show me one that wouldn't think you're just a little bit strange/odd/"different" for doing so. I don't expect flowers ever, because men never give them. I won't lie, I don't believe in love or any of that fantasy fairy tale stuff, but if a man gives me flowers, I am swept off my feet. It's such a kind and chivalrous gesture. If I ever got flowers from a man (not on a first date, but from a guy I am seeing regularly) then I would honesty have this tremendous respect for him. That act alone says so much.
Lucky_One Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I had just turned 17, and it was Valentine's. The boy I was dating sent me 3 pink roses, because he said they were my favorite color and were prettier than red ones. My first husband sent me flowers every three weeks when we were dating - the first week to be beautiful, the second week to start dying, the third week to be sad and wilted and to remind me that fresh beautiful ones would always be coming again. Shame he didn't stay that sweet and thoughtful!!
denise_xo Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I do, but then I haven't received flowers from that many different men
TooAccepting32 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Dude, I remember every guy who has given me flowers. Even the anonymous ones... I would remember them if they told me who they were.
