Hello all.

I went to the store yesterday and saw Christmas decorations being put out and suddenly got depressed with flashbacks of the great times my ex. and I shared during the holidays.

I can vividly remember romantic nights by the fireplace, walking around the block during cool/cold nights looking at neighbors decorations, holding hands, snuggeling to stay warm. Ah crap here comes a tear.

I'll probably be alone these upcoming holidays and dread it! It's still hard now I just can't imagine what it will be like then especially knowing she's doing those things with her ex that she went back to.

I just remembered in June I left a sweet love note to her under a fire log in the fireplace (cant see it now) saying something like, Hi Honey, can't wait to be with you again by the fireplace holding and snuggeling with you like we did last winter, I love you so very much.

Oh how I wish I could remove that note!!. I'll be curious about her feelings when she reads it though,,,she will most likely toss it in the fire because I've been replaced. Ouch.

Sorry all, just had to get that out.

Anyone else dreading the holidays? How to get thru them?

When I went to the supermarket today , I saw it too . Its still September ! I am dreading it , especially since I have two weeks off over that period. I work at a school so I have no choice . So I'm hoping I can escape somewhere .

It's summer here at Christmas so it won't be romantic , just freaking hot . But I will think of him with a hot new girl , at the beach and having Xmas like we had . Our first Xmas was so nice . Then new years eve , valentines day .

Can you maybe go on a holiday to a warmer place ? Maybe volunteer over Xmas and help others . I might do that intact . The money you would have spent on her , spend on a charity .

The note idea is cute , wish someone did that for me .

Hey Buttercup, Thanks for your help/advise. Actually I love cold weather during the holidays. Regardless of the weather its just the holidays that will suck this year.

After that post I remembered I left another love note in a box where she keeps her winter boots,,,, Can't wait to see you again wearing those boots, you are so beautiful.

I'm not a note freak,, they are not everywhere! She always told me though that she LOVED finding them and it made her day!

Now this.

You're gonna trigger...it just happens. You can't just forget the good times that you did have. However, those times are over and you have to start looking towards your future.

Your right, the holidays are right around the corner. Maybe Santa will bring you a terrific girl to make new memories with.

My ex-wipe didn't call me last Christmas, he texted me! WTF?

I'm going to find someone to call:cool: I will most definitely be having a BETTER Christmas.

That's an excellent idea. Helping others often makes us feel better, while giving someone else a better holiday than they might have had.

It also helps to take your focus off YOU YOU YOU and your heartbreak. And anything that helps get your mind off it, is a positive thing.

Help organize a Christmas toy drive at your office or among family and friends; or winter clothing for kids that would have to do without. Mittens and fire trucks under the tree for a kid who has nothing can go a long way to helping you realize how much you have in your own life, and how much love you can have by giving of yourself to others.

October is Month of Service at my company. All month long, we have opportunities to help the community, either by volunteering for Junior Achievement classes or building playgrounds or helping in a jobs training computer lab...

Don't put the focus on your heartbreak. Heal your heart by sharing it with others.

Oh yes, the holidays!!!

I think I've had more crappy/lonely holidays then good ones.

I recall the first NYE after I got married. My ex-husband decided to go to his friend's house to party, without ME! He did manage to race home to kiss me at midnight, which it was not accepted!! A-hole. Then he went back to the party!!

THEN another Christmas, I found his X-Mas shopping list for the chick he was cheating on me with!! Oh yeah, Merry Christmas!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I tend to get through the holidays with beer by my side. There's nothing like getting drunk, trying not to cry while listening to Last Christmas by Wham!, and wearing your festive light-up reindeer antlers.

I have a different situation than a lot of people, my newly ex BF lives in the house directly across the street from me!! So if he should have a "guest" over, it will be shoved in my face.

The best thing to do (something that'd id do) is go on a vacation - even a mini one - just for a few days during the holidays. Change of atmosphere, people and enviornment can do wonders - it transports you do a different world.

Also, make sure and do the same for Valentines Day- that is get away.

The good thing is that as long as you are keeping NC, the less you know the better and each day you get stronger.
