Hello,

My best friend is getting married in month. She's asked me to be her matron of honor, which I think is too too cool. She wants to keep the wedding small and as inexpensive as possible and she wants my help with ideas. If you have any ideas on how to make it a fabulous wedding in a short amount of time and with some thrifty ideas, I would be really grateful.

Also, because there is only a short period of time between here and June 26 I'm throwing her a bridal shower/bachelorette party. We'll meet at a nice place for dinner and exchange gifts and then go paint the town. Any help here would be much appreciated also.

Thank you in advance for helping me to make my friend's wedding a memorable experience!!

try specifying areas that we can help contributing ideas..... like erm do you want suggestions on how to make her a guest book or are you looking for bigger details like 'have an outdoor wedding by the lake (no rental) '

those were just examples.

She is having her wedding at a local lake and a small cook-out style reception at her church for close friends and family. I'm looking for simple ideas for decorating and some sort of personal touch to let her know how much she and her future husband mean to me. Do you have any ideas about decorating the chairs at the lake, or center pieces at the reception area. They have to be able to be cleaned up quickly.

I'm also looking for ideas to make her bachelorette party bar-hopping experience a one of a kind and memorable.

I'd really appreciate any help in these areas, or if you have any other ideas, I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks,

Decorating chairs at the lake:

Find inexpensive fabric - like bleached or unbleached muslin used for linings, as low as $1-2/yd. Cut a big square and drape it over the chair in an artful manner, then twist the fabric behind and fasten with a safety pin. Cover the twisted fabric with a big, handtied bow made of ribbon in her color. Experiment first to make sure this works well and you have the knack, then train a few friends.

Even cheaper, but a bit more work, would be to sew fabric pouches that fit over just the back of the chair, in an attractive print. This uses a lot less fabric - perhaps 50c worth or less, even for a nice print or solid. Each pouch can be cut and machine sewed, without hemming or with a machine hem, in about 3 minutes. Beginning seamstresses should be able to handle this. Again, try it first to make sure you like the result.
