WTRanger Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Is it just me, or is it odd to admit that you've had to move back in with your parents due to financial difficulty in this economy? I lost my job, lost most of everything and now am living at home to save money while job searching. But when I meet new people, or even old friends who don't know, I always feel embarrassed to tell them where I am. It's hard for me to grasp that I had a complete self sufficient life, and now I'm back to high school days. Am I just making a mountain out of a molehill?
january2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Sorry to hear that but yes, I think in this economy, it's pretty normal.
Art_Critic Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Honestly.. be glad that you can fall back on your parents for a while.. That might just be the ticket for you to be able to get back on your feet.. Never feel bad or weird about asking for help from your parents.. that's what parents are for.. 1
Author WTRanger Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 I know there must be millions who face this. But I don't want to overly lose my social life either. But I just feed odd telling someone I just met that I live with my mom. I can't lie about it, I've done that and gotten caught in a fib. Belive me, it's not permanent either. But I don't know how long this will last. I hate to say, "My place or yours, either way my mom can drive us." or "Tomorrow morning my mom can cook us breakfast."
january2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 It might not be funny but you can try to see the humour in the situation and use that. There's all sorts of innuendo and banter to be had in saying things similar to what you've suggested but in a tongue-in-cheek way. It does require a little bit of charm to pull off but I think that any person worth knowing will realise that you are trying to do the best that you can under the circumstances that you find yourself in. 1
