Woggle Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 People make fun of us because of shows like Jersey Shore but here is something my state can be proud of. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CDUQqQIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nj.com%2Fnews%2Findex.ssf%2F2011%2F09%2Fnj_leads_nation_in_lowest_divo.html&ei=OjeBTpmtOfDG0AGuoM1v&usg=AFQjCNHjGCIbCtsGqD4WnDirJhXduqu4Pg
D-Lish Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 So Snookie has a better chance of a happy marriage than I do?
Author Woggle Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 So Snookie has a better chance of a happy marriage than I do? She is a not a NJ native so no.
D-Lish Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 She is a not a NJ native so no. Where is she from? Is the whole cast of JS from other regions?
AHardDaysNight Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Snookie is trailer trash. You, D-Lish, are a nice girl. Therefore, the argument is invalid.
Author Woggle Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 Where is she from? Is the whole cast of JS from other regions? She is from Malboro New York . Most of them are from New York and places other than Jersey. I think when of them is from Jersey. This town only tolerates them because many make money off of it.

I'm hesitant to participate in this thread because I feel it's just going to be another anti-woman rant, and to be honest, I am tired of those kinds of rants.

Author Woggle Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 How high is the murder rate ?.. .... Probably high but it is concentrated in small areas like Newark and Camden. The rest of the state is pretty nice.
AHardDaysNight Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 It can't be higher than Cincinnati. We have horrible murder rates here.
Art_Critic Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Probably high but it is concentrated in small areas like Newark and Camden. The rest of the state is pretty nice. I'll bet Newark and Camden have the lowest divorce rates
TheBigQuestion Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) It doesn't surprise me at all, actually. Only morons who are brainwashed by TV and media would have a negative view of the state. New Jersey is the second most affluent state in the US behind Connecticut. Save for a 15 mile stretch on the Turnpike, it doesn't smell and is nicknamed the Garden State for a good reason. It has one of the best public school systems in the country, solid public colleges, and also has a lot of prestigious private schools on all levels. Almost any celebrity who was ever worth much of anything has owned a house somewhere in New Jersey. If you stay away from the cities, it's also one of the safest states. Multiple NJ towns end up on lists of nicest places to live in the US every year. Yes, I've lived here my whole life, and have never met anyone who actively disliked the state who wasn't a complete jerkoff, or originated from states that actually DO suck (i.e. most of the South). AHardDaysNight Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Not to mention it is where Billy Joel grew up, or lived when he was a celebrity.
Queen Zenobia Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Not to mention it is where Billy Joel grew up, or lived when he was a celebrity. And the Boss, aka Bruce Springsteen.
SincereOnlineGuy Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 New Jersey has the lowest divorce rate in the nation Lets not forget, NJ was the state in which studies once showed that a certain minority population accounted for 63% of the speeding tickets along the turnpike, and that got 'community leaders' up in arms. (only) Then they thought to do another study which later revealed that, surely coincidentally, citizens of that same minority comprised fully 63% of the people actually speeding on said turnpike. And once upon a time citizens of Piscataway, NJ once made national news for some random local battle over cats, and what they could or couldn't do with regard to neighbors. This prompted at least one newspaper to print the line: "... and you know what you get when you take the 'cat' out of Piscataway"

I agree and the actual Jersey Shore is really nice. I don't know why we ever let that show film here since all it does is make us look bad. Some people put greed before principles.
Hot Chick Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I saw a feature on Dateline that a lot of couples are wanting divorces but are not because of the economy....they can't afford the house, can't sell the house, it is simply cost-efficient to stay together....so since NJ isn't exactly a booming state economically (lots of poverty) it kind of gives a lot about the reason. Also a lot of people living in poverty may not be educated enough to have enough gumption and resources to get out of an abusive marriage.
