I wanted some opinions on this. I am not ditching the gym, willl still go 3 times a week for weights but wanted opinions on kick boxing classes. I was thinking of doing that 3 times a week, the classes are 1 hour...I am just so bored with any cardio at the gym. I need to shake it up a bit...Thoughts?

I think you pretty much hit on the core reason that most of those classes exist. Some people don't think running on a treadmill is so awesome so they decide to dance, kickbox, step, spin or whatever for an amount of time instead.

In short, go for it. The only real difference between any of the cardio classes offered by a gym is personal preference.

Why kick boxing? Good way to lose your teeth! ;)

Maybe try some martial arts self-defense courses first? Very empowering!

If you like that, then move up to the kick boxing stuff. But you'll meet lots of interesting helpful people in the self-defense area of martial arts. Fun too!

Kickboxing classes kick ar$e.

You dont actually fight anyone, just plenty of pad/bag work. If its a mixed group, theres plenty of interaction with those of the opposite sex, holding pads n swapping etc. (Some girls have a fair punch within them).

For guys who watch or are into ufc etc, its great to pick up and learn proper kicking and punching techniques. If with like minded males, you can really lay into it and get up a sweat pretty quickly. I go every week, I love it.
